Potential loan signing

Post by Top of the JES »

Kyle Scott from Newcastle. 22 year old started at Chelsea (1 EFL Cup appearance) moved on loan to FC Twente in Holland where he played 15 times before he joined Newcastle in the summer after being released . Described as a technical midfielder looks about 15 and 8 stone soaking wet.

Other clubs are interested.

We need experience. He doesn’t offer it.

With the club currently showing zero ambition it's just the sort of signing you would expect.

Seems like Martin Ling's type of player.
On that video he looks like he could be better technically than Marsh or Gorman, but not sure if he can mix it physically.

It will be one hell of a learning curve, a bit like Lumeka he has been pampered inside academies all his career. Ebou Adams came here with no League experience too, but at least he had plenty of games lower down, as did Ekpiteta and as such were comfortable straightaway.

It seems amazing how the management seem to be watching a different game to most of the fans.

Another young, tidy ball player with no physical presence by looks of it. Typical Ling loan signing. Fine if you want to drop Wright and still replace Clay with a combative ball winner but we know that won't be the case. Curtains for Marsh then if this guy comes in?

Definitely not what we need . It's b been. said countless times now that we need a Dawson/Vincelot type of central midfielder and that's not Kyle Scott .

Maybe we’re going to play the lot of them? Sacrifice another striker so we can throw another powder puff midfielder in the middle of the park.

To be fair, the lad looks as if he can bring the ball forward and do something useful with it. That is something we are lacking with Clay and Wright. I don't feel Marsh is much of an attacking prospect.

Looking at the player position maps from Whoscored from Ross's games, the game plan appears to be Wright and Clay as the holding midfielders with one advanced. That role has varied, Dayton, Gorman, Marsh have all had a go, mainly Marsh in recent games. The exception was the game against Oldham, where Kyprianou took one of the holding positions and Wright went forward. Perhaps this might explain how Kyprianou has not gotten into the side despite Ross saying players in good form will get games: the alternatives of playing Wright further forward or dropping him are equally unpalatable.

At 22, there is no point him moving around to another team where he isn't gonna get a run of games.

He may improve us if he came in for Marsh and we got in another player to replace one of Clay or Wright.

Nothing against good players but there needs to be balance. Every Leyton Orient side that has punched above their weight has had a player was never going to play the Hollywood balls or beat three men and stick it top corner, but their workrate made them much more valuable than that to the side.... ie Simpson, Dawson, Vincelot, Chambers...... we could even say that Jobi did that role at times last season.

Jobi definitely filled that unglamorous role last season.

I disagree with your assessment that Wright and Clay are in as holding players with one ahead. It's varied throughout from game to game and even within some games.
