Re: BRILL out for rest of the season
His reflex save at Aldershot when we were under the cosh, gave us a massive three points. He was great for us last season and I wish him well.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Mon Dec 23, 2019 6:14 pm Shame for Deano to end his time for us like this, but I’d just like to place on record my thanks for some great displays last season in the National League, making some important saves etc
I know it’s his job etc but I’m sure T and T are very grateful for him stepping in when Justin took over 2 years ago.
It’s up to Sarge’ now to make the position his own but of course we do need to sign a back-up or competitor for Sarge’.

Re: BRILL out for rest of the season
There's no doubt about it he has been great for us and I'm sure we all wish him well. I think maybe his previous injuries are catching up with him . If we do bring in a new first choice keeper I'm sure Dean would do a great job reverting back to the position of goalkeeping coach .DuvB wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 9:39 amHis reflex save at Aldershot when we were under the cosh, gave us a massive three points. Re: BRILL out for rest of the season
Somwthing is "not quite right" here, yet i cant put my finger on it
Brill gets a bad injury....such a bad injury that it requires an operation, whilst hes not even playing
Before we knew he needed an operation, Ross says plenty about looking to bring a new keeper in, then 24 hours later, we learn Brills injury is so bad, he needs surgery, and he wont recover before the season ends
People who break small bones in December will be playing before the end of April, so a hamstring injury that takes more than 4 months to heal, doesn't seem quite right
I know you all know I love a good conspiracy story, which I do, but I think there's more to this than we know

Re: BRILL out for rest of the season
I must admit I was a little surprised when Ross mentioned bringing in a new keeper . I thought the goalkeeping position was Ok , it's in central midfield I think we need strengthening .ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 10:20 am Somwthing is "not quite right" here, yet i cant put my finger on it

Given how the club has conducted itself over the past few months I get where you're coming from RedDwarf, especially considering he was dropped just before this injury occurred...RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 10:26 amI must admit I was a little surprised when Ross mentioned bringing in a new keeper . Unfortunately after being rushed back for start of the season Brill hasn't been at the level we know he's capable of. I don't put that down to the step up, rather lack of match fitness and perhaps subconsciously still protecting the injury.
Sargeant had looked very suspect in his previous outings so we did need to look for a keeper, didn't really see the sudden improvement coming but fair play he's done a fine job in past few games. Janata is very raw, you want someone coming in to challenge for the #1 shirt not go through the motions on the bench.
CM is vital when we get to the window. We're still playing 3 men to do the job of 2, getting that ball-winning midfielder in will give us a lot more options. Perhaps time for Gorman to take a loan out somewhere as he seems to have fallen out of favour now and hasn't kicked on this season. Can't see his contract being renewed in summer.

Re: BRILL out for rest of the season
If a hamstring tears and requires an operation the healing time is months not weeks. They say it’s better to break a bone than tear a tendon etc. So I’d suggest it’s real.

Re: BRILL out for rest of the season
He was the first change that JE made on arriving, after David spent months shuffling two kids around, ruining their confidence. We immediately looked more solid at the back (obvs most the credit for this must go directly to JE, but he recognised that solidity starts at the very base) and he was - as other has noted - colossal for us last year. Yeah, he was a bit slow in getting down to low shots but he was a lot more athletic generally than his on-field demeanour suggested.
He was a big, loud, organising presence behind a pretty young back 4/5, was brave and had excellent reflexes. And finally, he is the only goalkeeper to have won a trophy at Orient in nearly half a century.
And yet still people dig him out. Often the same people who seems to consider RE to be some sort of hero who should be given the manager's job immediately in spite of him proving to be consistently inadequate over many months.
People are weird. Football fans are weirder still. And Orient fans just take the flipping biscuit.

Re: BRILL out for rest of the season
You're right, but it doesn't change the fact that we shouldn't have re-signed him to a new two year deal at the start if the season.OyinbO wrote: ↑Tue Dec 24, 2019 11:21 am He was the first change that JE made on arriving, after David spent months shuffling two kids around, ruining their confidence. Re: BRILL out for rest of the season
As to a keeper coming in to sit on the bench in case Sargent gets injured etc. Well a long shot I know, but in July this year, we appointed I quote ''current-Maidstone United stopper Chris Lewington as the Club’s Academy Lead Goalkeeping Coach.'' Well looking at this video, he looks a very useful keeper so might be a stop gap signing who could continue his couching role with us, whilst filling in as a reserve keeper ?

Exactly. I mean, if only we had a DOF who could understand all of this? Might be an idea that we look into getting one.

It was said on the other board he’s been on holiday for a few weeks now, when I challenged that it was ignoresd. Maybe he’s on gardening leave?

No matter what happens, Dean will always be remembered by me, and many others, as making the best save I’ve ever seen from an O’s ‘keeper, at Aldershot last season. Just ridiculously good.
I hope he returns in some form or another.

Re: BRILL out for rest of the season
He was brilliant last season and was one of the main reasons we gained promotion.
However, this season many of our losses have been down to his below average performances.
I'm sure he'll be invaluable as our goalkeeping coach
