Its bad but I look at that result and it doesn't make sense. Doesn't make sense at all. I'm gonna keep my powder dry for now.

So did the country dis. He is a man that can't be trusted. However, the bigger issue is Brexit people want out, votes have been lent to the tories.
The people have spoken, they want their democratic vote followed through on. Labour and the Libs underestimated what the people wanted or just refused to listen to them.

Baffling.

Come on guys. Give the tedious repetition of the same old arguments a rest. It's done.

He looks totally deflated. Putting in a shift, but with about as much enthusiasm as me heading off for a colonoscopy.

Re: The Election Results Thread (OFFicial)
He’s not really wrong about this election being about Brexit.
Andrew Neil is right though, it’s the end of Corbynism.
They gave it a go but now we’ll see the Labour Party shift back to the centre ground.

Time for him to fall on his sword, along with the rest of the Momentum muppets.
Time for the Blairites to return to actually make Labour electable again. The alternative is a generation of this lying Tory scum.

9.5 years and 3 general elections in opposition, making huge net losses.

If exit poll holds, of course he'll step down.
But us members wont' be dragged back to a tory lite party. It won't happen.

Don't think Corbyn's policies are particularly unpopular with voters, the problem is Corbyn himself. Totally unelectable and unfit to lead a major political party.

Re: The Election Results Thread (OFFicial)
Mate, I hear you, but there's no point spending eternity in opposition. You need to be in power to make a real difference, and if this poll is correct that will mean letting go on some things. The membership is bound to crave that now.RedO wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:35 pmIf exit poll holds, of course he'll step down.

Re: The Election Results Thread (OFFicial)
Yep, it's undeniable (irrespective of whether it was just due to a media smear campaign). Too many Labour activists reporting doorstep conversations where they had to say, "you don't have to like Corbyn, just his policies."Millennial Snowflake wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:43 pm Don't think Corbyn's policies are particularly unpopular with voters, the problem is Corbyn himself. Everyone piling in on the failure of “socialism” and the “far left” as I flick through the channels.RedO wrote: ↑Thu Dec 12, 2019 10:35 pmIf exit poll holds, of course he'll step down.

A defeat for Corbyn, but highly likely a defeat for what is branded “far left” ideology (whether you agree with that definition of not) within the Labour Party.
If the exit poll is correct (which I suspect it is) then it’s a very big statement from the electorate.
I’d argue that if the defeat is as drastic as it looks it dangers plummeting the Labour Party into an existential crisis.
The second big headline is the (potentially) tremendous result for the SNP. One hangover from this election could be the breaking up of the United Kingdom.
Absolutely loving the Osbourne/Balls partnership anchoring the midfield of ITV coverage at the moment.

Re: The Election Results Thread (OFFicial)
It is ALL supposition at the moment, no results in and I shall be REALLY surprised if these exit polls are correct. To me all to play for, too many things may alter as the night goes on to declare one way or another ! As to the type of leadership of the Labour Party changing, I cannot see that happening at all as the voting will be controlled by the members, many of whom are of the hard left Momentum group. The Labour party is NOT the Labour party of old, it has been hijacked by the hard left group Momentum. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Momentum_(organisation)

Re: The Election Results Thread (OFFicial)
I agree about Osbourne and Balls really good insightful comment. ITV have by far the best team.
If the polls are correct then it's probably a crossroads for labour, momentum will want to keep a hard left stance but many Labour Party members and MPs will want to move further toward the centre given that it could be another backward election.
Could be a split in the party that leads to two separate parties?
