Bonne to be Sold?
On the charlton live forum they are talking about Bonne going in the transfer window. Someone has posted up a link to talksport and it says Newcastle, Leicester and Fulham lead the chase to sign him.
Interesting, especially if we have a sell on clause.

Re: Bonne to be Sold?
Maybe because these clubs are offering ridiculously good money. As others have said, let’s hope there is a sell on clause. We could certainly do with the extra money

Re: Bonne to be Sold?
If he could get double figures before January he might be in a very good position and some team might gamble.
You'd think we have a very good sell on-clause to compensate for the low £200k we got.

Re: Bonne to be Sold?
I don't think we had a sell on. From memory the £200k was a release figure put into Bonne's contract to get him to sign an additional 12 months so we did not lose him for nowt in the summer.

Re: Bonne to be Sold?
We heard about the £200k as that was the headline contractual clause that meant he could leave if we were offered that figure. It doesn't necessarily mean a sell on wasn't also in there (or other terms).LittleMate wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 4:27 pmI don't think we had a sell on. Re: Bonne to be Sold?
Would it be £0?
I thought Bonne was under 24 at the time and we would have gotten compo.
TBH I don't think the sell-on clause would make much difference to him, or be a game-changer for a buying club as they seem pretty standard, not in the same way as setting a low fee to not block his exit. It would be incompetent if we didn't have one, as Luton made £1.8m in payments when Andre Gray moved to Burley from Brentford (Gray was a player with very similar career trajectory to that point).
Getting a low fee upfront and a bigger sell-on clause may turn out to be wise if Colchester had a sell-on.

Re: Bonne to be Sold?
Loads of experts on contacts & the terms of deals Orient did with Bonne & later with Charlton.
Re: Bonne to be Sold?
No idea what the deal is, just think it's not unreasonable to expect a good sell-on. It would be absurd not to have one.
Even when George Porter went to tribunal it gave us a percentage of future profits.

Re: Bonne to be Sold?
Highly unlikely. We had very little bargaining position and did fairly well to get a £200k clause in the deal, as he only had 6 months left to run. No doubt that clause cost us £20-30k in increased wages for Bonne, but he earned it. Never stopped running even in the last minute of the last game.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 6:13 pmWe heard about the £200k as that was the headline contractual clause that meant he could leave if we were offered that figure.
