Re: Mail order fraud
I can't see how you can owe this sum as e-retailers don't deliver unless paid, surely?
On the basis you "purchased" it then it must have been on a card that you own. I'd check your statements and also with your credit card company to see if £139.99 has come out of your account. If so, then raise a merchant complaint. Nothing makes retailers act more quickly than a retailer complaint.

Re: Mail order fraud
Was it a debit or credit card alledegly used? Whatever it was ring your issuer and tell then you dispute the sale then it's up to the retailer to prove otherwise. I'd also be looking to cancel that card and ask for a new one as that's obviously compromised.

Re: Mail order fraud
It's an 0345 number that says it's a local rate , also the item has not been paid for , the statement says I have to make a minimum payment of 5.60 or the whole bill someone has obviously opened an account in my name.

Whilst waiting on Lucky's legal viewpoint, have you considered asking Mrs Ron if she knows anything about it?

Re: Mail order fraud
Phone Ambrose Wilson again, get the managers name and tell him that you're reporting this fraud to the police and his name will be on the Crime Number … his attitude will change.

Re: Mail order fraud
Email them.
It's obviously a scam or somebody else has opened up an account - but where are the goods? Surely if someone would want to do that they would need to specify another address to actually get any value from it.
If the paperwork looks genuine, I'd go to Action Fraud or something like that to get a crime reference number, which then tells the Ambrose thing to stop harassing for payments. I presume if they are letting goods out on credit then if they keep up the behaviour you can go to the Financial Ombudsman service to complain.

On their website under how to complain there is an email address. Email rather than phone

Re: Mail order fraud
Just went on line and chatted to someone , they said the account was opened by someone using my name and address, they asked for the goods to be delivered elsewhere
the person also gave a phone number that is not mine , they are looking into it so hopefully that's that , i will keep the invoice in case of comebacks

Similar thing happened to my wife Ron, in that someone bought a mobile phone from Tesco in her name and knew her date of birth.BIGRON wrote: ↑Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:49 pm Just went on line and chatted to someone , they said the account was opened by someone using my name and address, they asked for the goods to be delivered elsewherethe person also gave a phone number that is not mine , they are looking into it so hopefully that's that , i will keep the invoice in case of comebacks

There’s so many of these scams these days, but just check that nothing has come from your credit card account.
Good Luck !!!

Re: Mail order fraud
This reminds me of another story about a Ron who was definitely the victim of a scam:

Yep, Ron Hayward is definitely the victim there.
