Re: Grenfell Inquiry
I would expect police have seized where relevant all documents, email servers etc at the outset.
Google the golden hour for investigation.
There will be millions of emails & other documents on servers seized. These all have to be reviewed BEFORE any charging decision can be made - see latest Code for Crown Prosecutors.
This applies even if investigators have sufficient evidence to charge. The unused material needs to be reviewed before a charging decision is made under the latest Code for Crown Prosecutors.
It's not as easy as it may seem. There are many hurdles that have to be overcome before a charge can be laid

Re: Grenfell Inquiry
Two and a half years on since 72 people died due to systematic failures in privagised building control, deregulation (thanks to successful Tory ministers buckling to private builder lobbying), substandard construction, inadequate fire safety management, wrapping a residential building in flammable materials and a whole host of other failures...
...and the ONLY person to lose their job so far is a fire fighter.
Righto.

Re: Grenfell Inquiry
Yep. And then factor in the impact of MHCLG Advice Note 14, other buildings coming into scope due to defects in fire stopping measures, timber framed construction, wooden balconies etc. Safety aside, hundreds of thousands are trapped in properties that are now unmortgageable (although most don't realise it yet).
I've heard whispers that total cost nationwide could be in the region of £70 billion. And yet, despite appealing to government for intervention and support we've been met with a deafening silence.

Meh. Don’t expect that to change anytime soon. It’ll need to happen at least twice again before there’s any worthwhile intervention on this subject.

Re: Grenfell Inquiry
There is nothing intrinsically wrong with timber buildings, only in the way they are designed and constructed. Wood can be treated with fire retardents, as can insulation materials, its a matter of cost every time.
