Would you give Jay Simpson another contract? POLL
Would you give him another contract?
Most people were excited when he signed for us,but ultimately, he didnt really add much, because he didnt play much. His fitness was a problem, and he's been injury prone for most of his career
So guys......would you give him another go for us?

Re: Would you give Jay Simpson another contract? POLL
I think definitely worth another year, I don't think we have seen the real Jay Simpson this 2nd half of the season. Should get a bit more time on the ball in L2 and hopefully doesn't get fouled as much. I remember how good he was in the dark days so worth a gamble imo. Imagine him firing on all cylinders, playing with an understanding with Bonne/Koroma. On the other hand if he's on silly money as rumored maybe would be better off spending than on some younger players with potential but overall I'd like to see him for one more season.

He was starting to really come alive and was excellent at Barrow and then home to Wrexham. Unfortunately he got injured against Wrexham and didn't really do much after than, falling behind the excellent Harrold in the pecking order. Silly money aside, the Simpson that played against Wrexham would be worth a contract.

Agree with Red Army, Simpson was excellent in the game v Wrexham. A lot depends on his fitness but Jay Simpson firing would be snapped up by any team in lg2

Have to trust Justin on this one, for whatever reason we haven't seen enough of him to judge.
He obviously saw enough of him whilst training with us to offer him a short term contract.

Re: Would you give Jay Simpson another contract? POLL
I would def sign Paul McCallum if given the opportunity. Can hold the ball up, and great header of the ball. Still only mid-twenties.
When he scored 2 for Eastleigh recently, it was very apparent he didn't celebrate . I wondered if that was because hes already been sounded out, about a move to E10 in the summer

He can head it, but he can barely move and has had some bad injuries.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 1:48 pm I would def sign Paul McCallum if given the opportunity. Can hold the ball up, and great header of the ball. Still only mid-twenties.

He didn't figure much after he came back from injury, JE seemed to prefer Matt Harrold from the subs bench. With that in mind I do not reckon he will stay.

Re: Would you give Jay Simpson another contract? POLL
McCallum is good and so was Simpson, but there must be plenty of potential strikers (and other players) who could be signed who haven't played for Orient. Maybe a youngster from a bigger club who needs a bit of first team experience. Campbell and Kane did pretty well. Or maybe a 21 year old with some experience elsewhere looking for game time. Like Bonne.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Tue Apr 30, 2019 1:48 pm I would def sign Paul McCallum if given the opportunity. Can hold the ball up, and great header of the ball. Still only mid-twenties.

Yes - I would offer all those without a contract a minimum 12 month extension.
Team spirit alone could see us do very well next year.

I've voted 'no'.
Plenty of good reasons have already been given for why not and I agree with most of them. Salary, fitness and injuries are probably the most important issues.

I would got a year plus if money is ok. IMO in the next 8 months Josh or Macca will go and he’d be the replacement
Don’t want Paul McCallum back. There is better options

One year for me, provided it's on a bog-standard L2 salary. Talented as he is, his proven lack of fitness throughout his career deems it's a risk of throwing money down the toilet.
Re: Would you give Jay Simpson another contract? POLL
Must be nice to sit on the bench etc but still get paid he’s already got 4 months salary from the O’s and not done that much get rid he’s not needed let some other team pay his salary

Re: Would you give Jay Simpson another contract? POLL
I’m all for signing players who are likely to be ready to go day one and I see no reason why this will not be the case with Simpson. Can we get better? Answers on a post card. The guy is class and when fit will add to the team. Don’t see any of this as an issue, money and contract length will be. He may perhaps want more than we can afford. I’d love to have him in the squad but he’ll be off elsewhere.
