I don't have a problem with it. Broadcasters should not allow interviewers to dodge questions and if it means they have to ask the question again and again or talk over the guest in order to get them to STFU, then I don't mind.

The fact that the Neil interview with Boris appears to be the most anticipated to date suggests that there's a fair few that welcome robust questioning rather than soft-touch ones.

I don't really know if it's the fault of politicians sent out with their soundbites or the public who seem unwilling or unable to comprehend a nuanced argument of more than a couple of sentences.

Also, any politician who says they've been 'very clear' on some point, should be administered a small electric shock.

Andrew Marr.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Regarding his political affiliations, he was formerly a Maoist and a member of the Socialist Campaign for a Labour Victory, an offshoot of the International-Communist League, now known as the Alliance for Workers' Liberty. At Cambridge, Marr says he was a "raving leftie" who handed out copies of Mao's Little Red Book and he acquired the nickname Red Andy.

So your ideas of an interviewer doing a sterling job is just continually talking over someone like an idiotic and demented person !
But then again, you would say that wouldn't you !

''interviews with elitist arrogance written all over his face''
An EXCELLENT description of the smarmy faced Andrew Marr, a man who is hardly neutral when it comes to interviewing on his farce of a show, he ''was formerly a Maoist and a member of an offshoot of the International-Communist League, now known as the Alliance for Workers' Liberty. At Cambridge, Marr says he was a "raving leftie" who handed out copies of Mao's Little Red Book and he acquired the nickname Red Andy''
Of course although a rabid anti capitalist, he makes a very good living by living a capitalist lifestyle, as do many who work for the left leaning BBC.

There are many left wing Virtue Signalling Celebrities who bombard the media with their sob stories about wanting to take refugees into their big Mansions, Ultra wealthy millionaires for instance like Lilly Allen, Gary Lineker,J.K. Rowlings to name just a few, who talk a good game but do nothing practical to help the refugees and despite saying they would take refugees into their mansions........do NOTHING. All big talk and no action !

Well why did.he call an Election ?
After all he reduced his majority of 1 down to.-20.something didnt he ?

Should have just held a 2nd referendum

If he didnt call a GE to be Elected PM as the head of his party
Why else is there a need for a GE ?
Imagine if its a hung parliament
It means the tax payer covers the cost of a GE with no clear result &
Brexit still wont get done.

Referendum .2

Option 1 Leave no deal
Option 2 Remain with a deal
Option 3 Revoke article 50.
Go with the result from that
Far less
cost & a clear difinitive answer can be garnered.

No need for a 4th GE since 2011 when we have 5 year terms .

Why would we have a 2nd referendum when the first one has still not been acted upon. Let democracy happen first before calling for anything else.

Delaying tactics are food and drink to the un-elected cronies who run the EU.
An organisation that the views of the ''Dear Leader'' Comrade Corbyn has done a full 180 degree about turn on. Indeed a case of a willy Emery type of Comedy sketch where Corbyn dressed in drag as a Mandy type character says...''Ooh you are awful...but I like you !
https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2016/04/t ... cepticism/
The strange death of left-wing Euroscepticism Brendan O'Neill
Jeremy Corbyn’s eye-swivelling about-face on the EU – he once wanted to leave, now he wants to stay – has become a source of mirth for Eurosceptics and a sign of hope for Europhiles. To the anti-EU lobby, the fact that Corbyn voted against staying in the common market in the 1975 referendum and against EU treaties as an MP, yet now wants us all to vote to stay in, shows what a slippery character he is. For the Brussels-loving brigade it confirms that even the most heathen of EU haters can see the light. The ‘sinner who repents’ – actual words used in the Guardian‘s editorial on the newly pro-EU Corbyn – could be a useful tool for swinging the vote, apparently.

Yet even as we muse over, or mock, Corbyn’s tectonic shift, we mustn’t overlook the bigger story here. Which is the strange death of left-wing Euroscepticism. It isn’t only Corbyn who’s done a 180-degree turn from viewing the EU as a democracy-stifling monolith we should run a million miles from to saying ‘Oh, what the hell, let’s stay in, I’m sure we can make it work’. This sad, cravenly cautious adoption of a better-the-devil-we-know approach to Brussels has happened across a left that was once more agitated by the EU than the right was.

So Corbyn has previously denounced the EU’s ‘gross abuse of human rights and natural resources’ and said its aim has always been to ‘create a huge free-market Europe’. Tony Benn, hero of Corbynistas, and much respected beyond that scruffy circle, consistently took an anti-EU line. A couple of years before he died he gave a talk at the Oxford Union in which he said the EU stifles parliamentary democracy, and by extension weakens the clout of the people. ‘It’s not that I’m hostile to foreigners, but I’m in favour of democracy’, he said, to the bamboozlement of the gathered Oxford leftists, for whom loving the EU is as natural (and unquestioned) as breathing air.

In 1983, Labour became the only major party (unless you count Ukip) to put getting out of Brussels into its actual manifesto. I know that manifesto was the ‘longest suicide note in history’, but surely those of us who are Eurosceptic can agree that legging it from the then EEC was its one sensible proposal? As the Beeb recently said, ‘To go back to the 1983 manifesto is to be reminded that the Labour position on Europe has been utterly reversed’. Many trade unions have also ‘utterly reversed’, having once been suspicious of Brussels and now being more suspicious of those who oppose Brussels.

The left’s weird cosying up to a vast institution it once agitated against is best captured in the figure of Yanis Varoufakis. This is a man who was helping to run Greece when the EU was treating the country with imperious contempt, effectively blackmailing its elected leaders to override the stupid public’s wishes and enforce austerity. And yet how has Varoufakis been titillating lefties in Britain in recent weeks? By saying we should stay in the EU. The EU might be ‘disgraceful’ and a ‘disintegrating mess’, but we should stick with it, he says. What’s up with these people, seriously? I normally hate the use of the term ‘syndrome’ to explain people’s political behaviour, but I’ll be damned if Varoufakis’s outlook doesn’t sound a little like Battered Wife Syndrome. ‘They treat us terribly, but let’s stay.’

In other words a dictatorship where elections are no longer needed or ALLOWED !
Similar to the other one party Communist Countries of the World. Next step when that comes in, any dissenting voices to be locked up, brainwashed into the CORRECT way of thinking ! Happening already with China's brainwashing of Uighurs in prison camps. Funny how the many Lefties on this forum NEVER EVER mention these things about what happens to Countries when the Communists take control. Stalin also murdered many of his own population when leading the USSR.

Not about Marr’s politics, per se, who strikes me in his overall output as a classic establishment liberal these days, but the BBC bosses hits back at critics of its political news coverage. Mutterings about conspiracy theories, too...
