Favourite Orient Game You’ve Seen Live
For me there have been many down the years, but I must hold on to the day, the event and what then transpired in the game.
Oxford away to win promotion. Probably the most emotional game for me as I was there with my son and dad (who had not been for years due to ill health) and we all shared a truly great and wonderful day. To see the smile on my dads face is something I’ll never forget.
Seconded to that was Braintree at home to win the league, the only time in my life I’ve seen us do it. The game was not that great, I was proper ill that day, but there was no way I was missing that. We had done it. To me the team were great, but we had an even greater manager in Justin and I will always remember him, his team and what they did for us as supporters. He gave us back our pride, he made us winners just like he was a winner.
Rotherham away when Barrett probably had one of the great keeper displays in orient history.
Hull at home in the play offs when a Lockwood rocket nearly lifted the roof off the south stand.
Wrexham home to win the playoffs the atmosphere that day was of a proper east end knees up.
Arsenal home when JT skipped through the arse al defence to smash in a wonderful equaliser, the noise when that went in was unreal and I’m sure it’s still ringing in my ears now.
There’s plenty more, but the above all meant something special to me.

Orient 3 - Chelsea 2 FAC - Jan 1972
Glorient!
Oxford 06/05/06
Need I say more - Dad and I - will never forget it.
Carlisle 1 - Leyton Orient 4 - Nov 2012
Seen from their Directors Box - with Max Gold and E17 - with seemingly thousand of upset Cumbrians all around us. Didn't even bother trying to hide our glee as each goal went in. So much fun.

Re: Favourite Orient Game You’ve Seen Live
Yep, the 72 game vs Chelsea.
Only pro game my father took me to. Before the game I over heard a CFC fan say “I don’t even know why we have to come down to this poxy little club”.
Oooohhh revenge!!!!
That date and my father’s name are recorded in a paver outside the LOSC.
Otherwise, the 3-3 draw with Brighton when we had Moores and Coates and they had Chivers. And we wore the Red Braces kit!

Peterborough 1 Orient 3, 2013.
Boro 78, Wrexham 89, Rotherham 99, Oxford 06 etc away were great, but the result was the only thing that mattered. Our performance at Peterborough though was sublime. It was the game that confirmed to me that we were the real deal that season. I remember feeling elated and bursting with pride throughout and after the game. That team was joyous and truly, truly special.

Orient 3-2 Chelsea 1972
Orient 1-1 Arsenal 2012
Orient 3-1 MK Dons last game of 13/14. The best we played all season and an honourable mention to those who entertained us with the 12 days of Christmas ending in “one super Kevin Lisbie”

Can definitely see why the Peterborough match gets your vote. We were supreme that afternoon. Often watch the highlights on YouTube. The Mindsweep wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 5:27 am Peterborough 1 Orient 3, 2013.

Re: Favourite Orient Game You’ve Seen Live
Peterborough 1. Orient 3. For reasons above. Just singing we are top of the league with teams as strong as wolves , Sheffield Utd in the division and it was the first and only time since the 70’s when I felt we could become an established championship club again. Alas. Not to be be.
Orient 2. Wimbledon 6. I remember thinking Wimbledon were a legend in the making.

Re: Favourite Orient Game You’ve Seen Live
Can't choose just one:
Oxford 2006.
Arsenal 2011 (Home obviously)
Rotherham 99
Hull 2001
Brighton 1997
Wrexham 89
Darlington 1987 - 4-3 win from 3-1 down on a wet and windy friday night. Tumbling down the west side after Shinner's headed winner in the last minute.
Man I'm feeling old.....

Re: Favourite Orient Game You’ve Seen Live
For the game itself and atmosphere, Hull and Peterborough play-off semi-final home leg. Both cracking games and O's the right side of the result with BR rocking, a rare thing indeed.
For the event, winning the league last season. Doubt we'll ever see the like again now the winning mentality has evaporated from the club.

The image that is burned in my mind from the Peterborough play off game was the old boy and lady walking across the pitch hand in hand. A quality image conveying so much more than could be said.

Hehe. If looks could kill we wid be deid. I believe we broke the Directors Box Protocols. But it was a cracking game after so many disappointments at that ground. Was it really 7 years ago? FFS!StillSpike wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 11:20 pm Orient 3 - Chelsea 2 FAC - Jan 1972

My favourite is the Hull play off at Brissie. Once again I was in the Directors Box that night. Protocols were definately broken.
I recall a game against Hartlepool in the late 90s maybe early 2000's when for the first 20-30 minutes we played like Brazil and went 3 up. My old man was there and he casually enquired, in a sarcastic tone, if we played like that every week.

Re: Favourite Orient Game You’ve Seen Live
Lots of different ones for me
But the 4-4 with Brighton early 90’s at the old Goldstone ground
Craziest game of football I’ve seen and that still stands

Yep, that's right up there for me too, along with the win over Spurs at home in the League Cup.Stamford O wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 2:14 pm West ham away boxing day 78 I think.won 2-0. was quite pleasurable
As well as many of the others already mentioned, I will add the following;
A 3-1 win in the mid-70's over Chelsea in the league when Laurie made a fool of Ron Harris, all afternoon
The FA Cup win against West Brom, in the 80's thanks to Richard Cadette.
The 2-1 win against Norwich in 2010, shortly after Russell Slade was appointed, from which he went on to build a really good squad.

Re: Favourite Orient Game You’ve Seen Live
Northampton away - when we finally won an away game. The joy that came from getting 3 points after so many failed attempts.
Hull at home in that play off game. Beating the odds....
One of many games during the 2013-14 season when we turned up expecting and getting good football - and a win.
For me Oxford was 90 minutes of torture, so not a great game.

My favourite game as well. Made all the better because my elder brother is a life-long Chelsea fan and always slagged me off for supporting the O'sOrient_Man_And_Boy wrote: ↑Thu Nov 28, 2019 4:30 am Yep, the 72 game vs Chelsea.
