Value For Money
This story on the BBC caught me eye.
We all know motorway service stations are more expensive than elsewhere.
However it seems that the majority of people surveyed (59%) thought they provided good value for money! did they survey service station operators only?

Re: Value For Money
That may be so, but every service station I go to on my travels seems to be packed out. I think it's a case of "needs be" and
bugger the price.
bugger the price.

I agree with this.Chicken Dhansak wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2019 10:24 am That may be so, but every service station I go to on my travels seems to be packed out. I think it's a case of "needs be" and

The fact is though that the majority of people in the survey said it represented good value for money.
Who in their right mind things service stations are good value? They may be a necessity at times, but that is a different question is it not

Re: Value For Money
I stopped in a service station once and paid £1.49 a litre when prices were about £1.15 elsewhere. When I got to the desk to pay I said calmly “can you call the police please, I’ve been robbed”. So they asked what happened and I replied “well I put petrol in my car and proceeded to come here to pay you, then I saw it was £1.49 a litre and it was at this point I’d realised I’d been mugged by Shell”.
Everyone laughed and we all went on our way.

Re: Value For Money
I thought this about shops up the hifgh street charging high prices for items I could get cheaply elsewhere.
Sadly a lot of these shops have gone out of buisness.

Re: Value For Money
It’s just a captive market, you can see it everywhere. Cinemas, gigs and music festivals are buggers for it. Once you’re inside and have no option they can pretty much charge what they want. I was at the Roundhouse last night, waiting for the enormous queue for the cloakroom to die down after the gig, we wouldn’t be arsed to stand in line for 30 minutes so we went for a beer in the bar. £6.50 a pint. Same thing as a motorway service station.

Captured audience more than competition Ron.
Nothing stops a Driver being prepared .
Jerry can of petrol in the boot & a supporters club style roll & flask of tea in the footwell of the passenger side , gets rid of competition.
As the old saying goes fail to prepare
Prepare to fail.
