He was decent to be fair, never stopped running and not just running for the sake of it either he showed good intelligence in his movement. Maybe his references didn’t check out?
Re: **MARTIN LING EXCLUSIVE**
We might have signed another striker but Alabi came off the list instead.

The point I'm making is if the club want us to know something, then they should put it on established channels such as Twitter or YouTube or the club website, not a 3 hour long podcast that the majority of fans don't listen to.SuperO1881 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 10:00 pmI don't even know what you mean by that to be honest. This is spot on. Ross has said he wants the job having seen how things went with Carl. People reading so far into things they go off topic.

Have only listened to a third of the programme. Ml states that the people who applied for the job was not as good as when JE applied. We were lucky to find JE as he was a one off. So what was the difference this time around .Was it the legacy of following JE putting people off. Was it that ML waited for applicants to actually apply instead of going out to get them. Perhaps with the money being offered limited the list. The fact that the requirement of the position was to work with an existing coaching staff was also a factor . We will never know. One thing is sure is that the football world will get to know what went on behind the scenes and may put a damper on who applies in the future. Although ML is confident that RE will succeed only time will tell . Please don’t wait until it becomes a situation like Southend are currently in .

Re: **MARTIN LING EXCLUSIVE**
That's basically it, he in effect said he expects a pro footballer to behave in a certain way, and Judd wasn't doing it. He did say he wasn't out partying every night, which was the obvious assumption, but he didn't say what he was/wasn't doing. It's about 5-10 mins from the end. It was quite out of step with the rest of the interview IMO.Thor wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 10:22 pm I agree elliot came across really well and it would appear we have a good one in him at the club.
I might need to re listen to the Judd part again as I couldn't pay full attention as a teacher wanted access to an area i was working in today (PTA work). Did ML basically slaughter Judd and his professionalism? That's what seemed to come across, but like I say I was not 100% attentive whilst she was around. Can someone confirm for me please if I got it right or not. Thanks

Re: **MARTIN LING EXCLUSIVE**
Why throw Judd under the bus like that then? Is it to justify his sons place in the team? (He’s not played badly overall this season so it’s not a pop at SL) or was it to silence people on this board as to why he does not get in the team?
What’s he doing then that concerns ML? He’s not drinking himself to excess, what could he be doing that’s upset ML so much. It would seem to me that Judd is out this club unless he confirms to what ML expects him to do and or behave like.

Re: **MARTIN LING EXCLUSIVE**
Unfortunately with what went On with CF and his sacking the likelihood of attracting a good candidate for manager at this stage will be small. The only way forward is to give RE the reigns until the dust settles. ML pointed out in the interview that the persons who applied this time around was not as good as when JE applied. Unfortunately that leaves ourselves in a sticky position if the results continue as they have recently. RE is not the right person for the managers job and he has said as such himself. Does ML really know what is required in the coming transfer market or will he fudge the issue.Look at what’s happened at Southend. Worrying times aheadPoundhillO wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 3:47 pmIf he said after Fletcher left that he didn’t want the job and Ross hasn’t made a statement saying he has changed his mind, then it is undue pressure at minimum although I believe it is bullying.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 3:27 pm He's not being a bully, he's giving him another opportunity.
Ling should respect Embleton’s decision and get on with the job of advertising for a proven, experienced Manager and stop burying his head in the sand.
Re: **MARTIN LING EXCLUSIVE**
Maybe Judd isn't working hard enough in training or his attitude ain't good.....if you were him you would feel you were ahead of Sam (based on performances last season). The professional way might be to get your head down and work hard, but these are footballers we're talking about.
The fact that Ogie can make the bench ahead of him (and Ogie is not even trusted that much for a League game) suggests something has gone wrong.
Might as well get rid of Judd in January and get a proper experienced right-back in, but I can't see it happening.

Re: **MARTIN LING EXCLUSIVE**
When you say the decent questions on this board were ignored, which questions? There were a number of questions about a clique/mafia which Martin addressed - we didn't see what further questions we could ask to elicit more information - basically because it's all nonsense - the fact the DOF who got us promotions as a manager and DOF and is an ex player has to justify himself like he has done is ridiculous in my opinion.Thor wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 9:16 pmNo tough questions asked at all. It was a good podcast, but like gshaw says they do not challenge the status quo as the access they currently receive would surely be revoked. I get that there needs to be a balance, but in my view the balance tips in favour of the club.
I do listen each week and I do enjoy listening however, the decent questions posed on this board were in all honesty ignored.
We asked about transfers for January which he answered.
We asked about Ross which he also honestly answered.
He spoke about players including his son.
He spoke about interfering in the team selection - which he categorically said he doesn't do and has never done. He stated his position is an advisory one should the manager want to utilise his experience.
I mean 3 hours is a long time, to have people say we didn't push enough is unfair as he'd answered the points to the fullest. The issue is people didn't hear what they wanted to hear.
I believe in Martin and believe he's an excellent appointment for our club and is an Orient man at heart (despite supporting W*st H*am).
There were a few terribly worded questions, so if people can't be bothered to put them across sensibly then why should we waste our time posing them.

Re: **MARTIN LING EXCLUSIVE**
The club interviews are usually 5-10 minutes. You can't get all the info we got in 10-15 minutes, even if you cut out the normal podcast format and info we cover - Martin and Elliot are at least two thirds or three quarters of the 3 hours. This is why the club don't do it - they can't. They can't have a written interview having transcribed nearly three hours of interview time.Red_Army wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 11:24 pmThe point I'm making is if the club want us to know something, then they should put it on established channels such as Twitter or YouTube or the club website, not a 3 hour long podcast that the majority of fans don't listen to.SuperO1881 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 10:00 pmI don't even know what you mean by that to be honest. This is why we add value - we can do 3 hour podcasts if we want. We can cover things the club don't.

3 hours seemed like one hour while we were doing it and it's impossible to split that out sadly. Thanks for persevering with it. We think it's worth listening too - you can probably skip the FGR review and the tweets we read to help cut it down a bit.
Constructive points to note...
1) ask guests to turn their phones off during an interview, iPhone dings midway through are a rather off-putting
2) don't know if you do the pre-recorded messages usually or that's just a one-off for the 200th show but the Howard Gould's one particularly nearly made me jump out my car seat as it was so loud (you may be quite pleased with that effect )
However Martin Ling got such an easy ride with the Q&A at the end he won't have a nicer one all season even if he takes his next trip to the ground in a chaffeur-driven Bentley
When fans want probing questions about fitness of the players, whether academy pays its way or why we haven't got adequate cover in the squad we hear 5-10 minutes of "get behind the boys / we have faith in you Ross" quotes followed by questions about what advice Ling would give someone in their career. That's why you get called stooges for the club as in comparison the fan Q&A event was no holds barred and much more open and honest for it.
The fact Ling doesn't like the phrase "nasty midfielder" doesn't fill me with any confidence at all. Seems it's definitely back to nice little Leyton Orient thinking again, no wonder we keep getting bullied on the pitch if that's the "culture" being encouraged. If he doesn't think we're in a relegation battle right now after recent results to the sides around us that complacency is also concerning.
Blimey, more than one post with constructive feedback, I feel we've turned a corner.
1) That's not happened before but agree it shouldn't happen.
2) You're not a regular listener? Shocked tbh. We only do pre recorded messages on landmark episode numbers. The last were 100 episodes ago.
I don't recall asking Martin to give careers advice.
Cheers though, appreciate the feedback.

I'm quite worried about his admission to how Sam Ling came to sign and I've not seen anyone else mention it. He said Justin asked him to have a word with Sam about possibly joining and could we get him for cheap as Dagenham were skint. That implies that we approached Sam before we approached Dagenham.

Re: **MARTIN LING EXCLUSIVE**
For sure it goes on at all levels of the game. That's how most transfers start, a middleman asks the player would you be interested? Then the buying club states its desire to acquire. It cuts down alot of wasted time if the player has absolutely no interest in coming.
We would be naive to think we are not party to it, it's only a problem when the club who has the players registration gets the hump and reports them.
Whilst ML probably shouldn't have said it, I'm not going to bash him for it.

Re: **MARTIN LING EXCLUSIVE**
Interesting post re Southend. My nephew is a Shrimpers ST holder of many years. Close ties with the club and some players. I asked him what triggered this seasons slump. In his opinion it all started to go wrong half way through last season, problems never really dealt with, complacency, the club started to slide. He feels this season is a reflection of inaction midway through last season and is not surprised at the state they are in. In fact he is fearing a double relegation into the NL such is the crisis in the club.moonwalk19 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 12:35 am Have only listened to a third of the programme. I do detect a little complacency at Orient right now. Or perhaps I’m just reading too much into what is going on. It will be alright on the night stuff.
