Not Slade for me. Back in 13/14 we had an exceptional squad and RS got the best out of them. This current squad are an awful lot poorer and I can’t see anyone getting much out of them, esp not RS who has essentially done nothing much since he left us. A good man, and one who’ll always be fondly remembered at Brissy, but let’s remember him as he was.

" The nearly man" . The problem with that quote is we're not going for promotion but survival. Who else could we get from outside at the moment to come in a steady the ship . ?

Russell Slade did a great job here on a very limited budget. He did okay at Cardiff but still got moved to another role, since then he has been a failure. He is not setting the world alight at Hereford either.
With all due respect to Hereford , Russell probably has nothing to work with there and next to no budget .

By being bold. One name, one man.
Alan Curbishley
He's been out of the picture for far too long now and is probably happily retired.

I could never see him dropping down to league two, he has always managed at a higher level.
I know, but he might just want one last challenge. You dont know till you try. I've said before his son supports us, who knows he might just do it cos of that?
If he were to come ling needs to go as youd need his salary on top of a managers salary to even think about challenge going him, I'd guess.

Thing is the senior management have made a rod for their own back now having shown the coaching staff and senior players are basically untouchable. A new manager has to basically come in and work with the same players and same staff... hiding to nothing.
Reality is for whatever reason the previous recipe for success is going to need to be ripped up and started again from scratch for this level. That includes the DoF and coaching staff.
Totally agree what chance does a new manager have on his own .I fully understand making RE manager after the passing of JE .The dreadful appointment of CF with no league experience apart from being at Plymouth some 6years ago for a short period of time has now made a new appointment very difficult. RE has stated he feels he is a coach not manager yet Ling still believes he will make a good manager. I believe CF was the cheapest option of the candidates . When you are faced with the requirement of not picking your own backroom staff it must limit the quality of manager you can appoint. What happens next It would be very embarrassing for Ling to go back to anybody who was in the final 4 applicants. The only thing they can now do is sit and hope this dreadful situation will quickly go away. In the meantime we get nearer to be sucked into the relegation zone

You really are an utter cretin.
Everybody is entitled to their opinion Mr Moderator .

It's really simple, you can have an opinion and I can criticize it.
No you were not expressing a different view to mine, you were making an ill judged opinion of me. You don’t know me and your comment was crass, but still that says more about you than me.

Based upon what Martin Ling said in his interview on the Orient Outlook podcast the club don’t share the same sense of urgency about installing a new manager. Seems we are sticking with the current set up and RE is still the preferred option.

Ling Snr protecting his own position yet again. When will he put the club first and admit that he doesn’t want to be proved wrong .His record on appointing a proven, successfull Manager is rubbish with only 1 being proven and successful .
Way past his time to move on and give our club the chance to succeed that the fans so richly deserve.

He certainly does seem to be out of step with what a lot of supporters are thinking on this issue.

I reckon Ross will take the gig .....not sure that would be the best outcome
I think you are right. Assuming we are OKish end December, the next stage will be “give him to the end of the season”.
So unless Ross takes us into serious relegation trouble he will in effect, given his earlier stint, have a full season to get into it. To learn the job. The next stage will then become “give him a chance to start a new season afresh. Clean sheet stuff.
Evolution not revolution stuff.
So unless he screws up big time or reaffirms his desire to be a number 2, Ross is our head coach for the foreseeable future.
