is there a difference between a CEO and a Director of F*ck-ups?
Is there any difference between the positions? I ask this because if there is no big difference between the two, then why not
employ a decent CEO and bin off the DoF. The CEO would be responsible for the everyday running of the club, could be in
constant contact with T&T and yet not have any say in the footballing side of the club. It would also get rid of all the cosyness
within the club at the mid-management tier. It might also allow us to have a decent managerial structure.
If there is any difference between the two, I am sorry for asking.

We have a ceo in Danny who it would appear is doing an excellent job. In a normal ceo role in a football club they would also handle the transfers etc. In our club all football matters were separated off.
I am not against the dof role and I think it has its merits. Just right now the focus is on our one cos of the following reasons imho.
Davis big mistake
Fletch big mistake
Not signing a holding midfielder big mistake
Contracts handed out debatable
His conduct at the q and a big mistake
Now if we had been flying high none of the above would matter, but we are not and they do now.

All Ling has done is his best for us, & the Moany brigade throw as much Vitriol his way.

No they won't, screwing up on the pitch will. That's what all this comes down to; poor decisions that do all sit under the DoF's remit. Massive January transfer window ahead and if that goes badly then NL will come knocking.
Agree above Macklin has done an excellent job on the commercial side, shame none of that income seems to translate to the playing budget (more likely going to fill Hearn's pockets via rent increase). If a proper manager came in overseeing player recruitment it wouldn't seem too much of a stretch for Macklin to finalise contracts.

Not everyone hounded Ross out, and not everyone sings his name with joy.

I disagree....ling is majorly responsible for most of the f**kups here in the recent past, so you can blame himScuba Diver wrote: ↑Mon Nov 25, 2019 8:06 amWouldn't surprise me. Atmosphere is toxic.

Who was it that found two 'duff' head coaches, in three attempts?
Who was it who's summer signings, season before last were Gorman & Alabi?
who is it that keeps giving mediocre players contract extensions?
Ling is to blame for much of whats wrong on the football side

Will you praise him for rebuilding the club, winning the national league, promotion and a cup final?

T&T employ Ling to oversee all footballing matters. So if he's to blame for things, then he is to be praised for success.

That of grown-men mewling like new-born babies when success on the pitch is not instant and not to their liking.
Ditto the toy-throwing on here that follows every defeat. That is not down to Ling, but the impatience and demanding nature of 'fans' who demand instant success, despite the club being in a period of major transition.

Re: is there a difference between a CEO and a Director of F*ck-ups?
With all due respect to Ling, I feel that the current structure of the club is restricting us from making long-term progress by attracting a manager capable of matching the expectations of the fans/owners. Because of this I do believe we need a clean sweep and remove both him and Embleton.
I don't think we will go down and the only real damage incurred this season could be a fall off in attendances. Its hard to get motivated to watch the tripe on show right now. Too many players are (or seem to be) out of their depth; and too many players are (inexplicably) being played out of position. Everyone knows we need a goalie immediately. We could play our loanee Marsh in midfeld, give Ogie some pitch time, and use Dennis as a striker (what he's meant to be). But those purporting to have tactical nous are persisting with inept decisions that make some of our poor players look worse still.
I thought FGR were miles better than us on Saturday: faster, fitter and very entertaining - they could have won by a lot more than 4-2. Its a pity that the cheating behaviour of Adams and their manager has distracted so many from the obvious deficiencies in our set up.
Its not a crisis by any means; just a big disappointment considering that we came up as champions and should really be doing better in this division
