Nice.
Nobody is bigger than the club and it’s future success and that includes Ling Snr and Embleton.
If it’s a choice of bringing in the best experienced, proven Manager at this level and he wants his own back room staff , then so be it, the success of the club comes first.
Embleton has been a reasonable number 2 back then again how much of it was riding on the coat tails of JE ?
One thing for sure is that he certainly is not an experienced, proven Manager at this level.
Nobody wants to see Ross lose his job and yes he has a family to support, but so do many people in all different industries.
The club cannot put sentimentality before the success of our club, otherwise he would have a job for life and that’s crazy.
The club if they haven’t done already need to immediately seek applications with one credential only, that being that they are an experienced, proven Manager at this level with no caveats at all.

there must be big number of managers who would jump at the chance
to manage a London club regardless of its size.
Why?

Why would they want to move to a big city where property prices etc are much higher, crime is far more prevalent etc. Stabbings and murders are happening at an alarming rate etc
Could the answer be because they like to live life on the edge.

The coaches under davis were underwhelming.
The coaches under Justin were excellent.
The coaches under themselves left a lot to be desired.

They were the same coaches except Jobi in the first 2 examples.

We need a manager, a proper man manager not another coach.

Agree with this . We are dithering and hoping it will all just fall into place . Is telling an incoming manager , you have to get on with Ross and have him as number 2 and you can’t get rid of any favourite players who we think are great, but you might not , too much too ask ? Is that interfering ? The very thing we were told would never happen?

I would say we suffer from a similar effect in that the cost of living is so much more than in the case of no attachment to any particular area, players would need to be paid a lot more to come.

£1,000 a week at Orient would get a lot less than £1,000 a week in Carlisle...yet looking at match ticket prices they are quite similar and I bet TV money is as well.

TBH what we should have done as part of the redevelopment of the ground was to have held back a decent chunk of 10-20 flats and made it a private 'Orient' section (ie. only accessible in the lift by key fob or something)....these type of serviced apartments would make it much easier to attract players.
Also they would have all the Scottish coaches interested as for most it wouldnt be a long drive back home as it would be compared to London.

So 60 northern applicants from say the east mids up.
And 40 Scottish applicants.

Added to what you say correctly about the cost of living it is unsuprising a 100 applied.

Good point about the increased possibility of applicants from Scotland however, given the distance between Glasgow / Edinburgh to Carlisle is roughly 100 miles and Aberdeen is getting on for 250 miles away I still don’t think the geographical location would be the main cause of the disparity between the O’s getting 40 CVs in and Carlisle a 100 plus. To me it seems more likely the filters applied to the job by the Board is the most likely reason.

With what’s happened lately it is going to be very difficult to find a person that is going to fit into the current regine. Any good manager would look at the club and think am I going to last any length of time. Players and staff were not behind CF from the start. That said he tried to implement his game plan from the start without getting to know what the players capabilities were. The team need strengthening in various areas . The midfield is not good enough and this has been the case over a period of time. Sentiment plays no part in the future if we are going to succeed . JE did not let sentiment play any part when he released players .I don’t think we will have a new manager before Christmas.
