Manager dying and on our 3rd Head Coach since the summer might have something to do with it.aylesburyos wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 8:58 am Was it necessary for Martin to swear a couple of times on the Q & A with Nigel and Danny. Why does he need a breaK? Surely he should be full throttle on January recruitment & looking for a new manager. He also came across as stroppy when Tisdale & Jones were suggested as managers. Contrast him to Nigel and Danny M who always come across well

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
The swearing didn't bother me and I'd even forgot that it happened. However, PW I'm not sure your argument holds water really.
Would you in a staff meeting at work swear in front of fellow workers? I doubt it as I'm sure your boss would not be impressed with such language. Regardless of what had happened in your private life, you just wouldn't do it.

What were they laughing about?
With Ling swearing this may be worth listening to.

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
It wasn’t the swearing that bothered me, it was the contempt he showed for some of the fans. They clearly have a theory how they want things to go but it was clear he had no idea who he wanted to replace Ross and just waited for people to apply for it. It’s an absolute joke that he said ‘Tisdale and Jones didn’t apply for it’ as a reason not to contact them and have a conversation.

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
Hopefully Martin is looking into January recruitment without the need for another manager

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
Well put biggsy, it's like I said yesterday, pick up.the phone and sound them out. Its poor to not try and get the best possible person you can. It's only by talking can you determine if they want the role, can we afford them and what conditions they want to work under I.e their own backroom team for example.
To sit back put a cigar in your mouth and pour yourself a coffee and wait for applications to flood in is in my opinion not good enough.

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
I think Ling should be given a permanent rest if he can’t be bothered to start the process immediately of getting in a new Manager, the status quo is not acceptable. The situation is far to cosy and is p*ssing the fans off big time, so he needs to get off the pot or start p*ssing !aylesburyos wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 9:50 am Ling came across as stroppy & dismissive of fans. And Nathan Jones - who happened to be manager of Stoke at the time. Like Jones would consider taking a job at this level now.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 10:32 amHe should have approached Tisdale who was employed by MKDons at the time?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 9:44 am It wasn’t the swearing that bothered me, it was the contempt he showed for some of the fans. If you're going to criticise Ling at least try and find a reasonable issue to complain about rather than this nonsense above.

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
Thought Lingy was brilliant at the Q & A as the one thing we all know about
him is his honesty and he tells it as it is..
Starting the gig with a question about we should go and get Nathan Jones was
laughable in itself and that we could probably see that in Lingys expression, saying
we had the similar budget and we were the same size roughly as Luton once again
does Lingy need to answer these questions as we are not..
Whether as a player, coach, manager or a DOF, OUR club is alot better and
healthier with a character like Martin Ling in and around it..
The last management appointment proved to be a mistake but getting Justin
in was probably our best signing in recent years so these things happen..
Can't wait for next Q& A session and certainly hope Lingy is in attendance for it..

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
I didn't say that. I'm suggesting his 'process' is sh*t. I've misremembered the names and spliced 2 parts of the interview together in my mind in hindisght but my point still stands. He said he didn't look at a couple of people because they didn't apply for the job, that suggests that he was only interested in people who applied for it. He had months to come up with a plan, the sort of manager he wanted and then shortlist a few that he wants and then look at the applications on the off chance there's some he didn't expect but no. He obviously did nothing and waited.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 10:32 amHe should have approached Tisdale who was employed by MKDons at the time?BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 9:44 am It wasn’t the swearing that bothered me, it was the contempt he showed for some of the fans. It's clear that the manager's position doesn't actually matter to him, as long as him and the coaches are there, that's the real power at footballing level.

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
I’m with Ling and others - you don’t go chasing a manager when it is widely known that we are undertaking a recruitment process to fill that role. If either of them had the slightest bit of interest, they would have registered it.

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
I’ve had my cv sent into places I wasn’t overly interested in before, thinking I’d see how it goes and maybe go along for an interview if nothing else cropped up in the mean time.
It’s only those jobs I had absolutely zero interest in that I wouldn’t bother with.

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
Or you approach someone you've identified as the man you want, stroke his ego, talk the club up, take him over to Boston and make him feel special. Failing that, you can go through your 'process' then pick a man who got demoted from an u23 role and hasn't coached in a while, let alone manage.
What about if those companies headhunted you, offered you a great package, offer to take you out for lunches and made you feel like they needed you. You'd still say no? Give it a rest ffs.RedO wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 11:04 am I’ve had my cv sent into places I wasn’t overly interested in before, thinking I’d see how it goes and maybe go along for an interview if nothing else cropped up in the mean time.

You cant just approach people who are already in jobs, there's rules against that. No wonder Ling was Fing and blinding with these idiotic ideas being floated.

Re: Martin Ling on the Q & A
And assuming he does come here even though he’s not got the remotest interest in doing so, he then fucks off in 6 months time when a L1 club come knocking.
