Re: NEW MANAGER
Ross is the interim head coach and if you listen to the Q&A yesterday we will not be looking for anyone for sometime yet. I think the staff of three are the ones to take us through to the end of the season and then a review will be undertaken.

Well I hope the staff of three knows who to bring in during the January transfer window.

Re: NEW MANAGER

Do you have a collection of sticks with which you like to beat yourself? I agree we are a near-the-bottom side but with Bury gone and Macclesfield actively eating themselves we probably won't have to take another point.
Re: NEW MANAGER
Difficult to appoint a new manager in the short term. The 39 who didn't get the job would have to apply again - would they bother? All but a handful weren't short listed - would they be this time round? Would any of the original shortlisted want to feel that they were second best? What new applicants would apply? None of this will take a couple of weeks and we can't risk another debacle - we need our money for players in January.

Re: NEW MANAGER
Macc aren't.They are half way up the table.Morecambe down the bottom picked up a point on Sat which is more than us and Stevenage's game was postponed.
We are getting a few players in,in January as far as I know.I think Max was replying to me.I don't think we are going down but it may be tight.Ross has picked up points before even though Saturday was a disaster.

Re: NEW MANAGER
Unless results are disastrous and we find ourselves in relegation trouble, Ross has a trial period for the rest of this season. We won’t be getting a new manager.
Not sure I understand the logic in this, as if we’re scared to act because we made a mess of it last time, but that’s where we find ourselves.
Let’s hope it works out better for Ross this time around.

Apparently we have a squad size of 26.Something I read in the Newham Recorder.
Re: NEW MANAGER
We'd still attract people no problem.... it's a job for them after all.
If we advertised for the managers job again today we'd still get the same applicants but they would have a slightly stronger negotiating position.... the managers who wanted their own backroom would have more justification for doing so, the managers that are forced to take the assistants may want more assurances that they won't be bombed out so early.
I do think we're out of the market for a manager unless Ross has a terrible record. Nobody really knows if an outsider will fit, so why spend lots of money on it.
IMO The ideal time to get a manager is if/when League status looks very likely. Being on 40 points with 12 games left might cut it. Then even if there are fallings out there can be plenty of departures in the summer and a few months to rebuild.

Re: NEW MANAGER
If we advertised today there would be a flood of applicants. As well as those who let it be known they are interested without putting in a CV. Ling made this point and he is absolutely correct.
It’s human nature for a manager, having seen the previous fiasco, to believe they could do a better job than Fletcher so won’t end up the same way. Confidence in ones own ability.
Would a manager of established L1/L2 level join Orient. Of bloody course they would. And not just for the wages. The directors have demonstrated ambition, have achieved, and want to grow. An attractive proposition for any manager. No offence but there are plenty of less attractive clubs than Orient playing in L1. Look at attendances for starters.
But reality. Ross for this season and if he decides it’s not for him, the search will start probably with a few weeks of the season still to go. The only thing that will change this is if Ross, after a run of poo poo results, decides to stand down again.

Re: NEW MANAGER
Do you really want to take that type of gamble because I don't . I agree with Max, we could well find ourselves back in the National League if we don't start getting our act together.

Re: NEW MANAGER
It isn't my gamble but it seems the club has little option given the current roster and the perceived sentimentality about being loyal to them. However we would have to constantly hit the self destruct button to be relegated again. I also agree with Max but not about the dire consequences he sees.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 12:18 pmDo you really want to take that type of gamble because I don't . It's not only about the money but also knowing who to bring in . I hope Ross, Danny and Jobi have already got players in mind who could improve us .dOh Nut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 2:54 amWeighed against the cost of relegation, money will be found if needed, which it is.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 18, 2019 11:56 pmThat budget might have to be reconsidered if we're sliding towards relegation trouble.Howling Mad Murdock wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 10:40 pm I think we are on a tight budget so I don't think January will be our saviour.

Re: NEW MANAGER
Was just about to say the same. Ross and his team identity the areas that need addressing, Ling and the scouts do the searching and Ling the negotiating. Ross will have input no doubt.Thor wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 12:24 pmThat's not in their remit, that's down to ML.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 12:22 pmIt's not only about the money but also knowing who to bring in . I did pick up from Ling that he had been busy and was now looking forward to a quieter time, also Travis saying they need to revisit their finances. Maybe reading too much into it but with January fast approaching I would expect Ling to be busy looking for players. Beginning to wonder if we will be doing much business in January.
And I wish Ling would stop taking every opportunity to say how busy he is. He is a highly paid, I assume, Director. Goes with the job.

Re: NEW MANAGER
We need a minimum of 9 in January. Goalkeep, 3 defenders, 4 midfield and a mobile forward, perhaps a tricky winger in the Jinky Johnstone mould.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 12:45 pmWas just about to say the same. Comedy classic right there in Max's post. We will be lucky to get 2 players in, if any at all.

Re: NEW MANAGER
Nobody is bigger than the club and it’s future success and that includes Ling Snr and Embleton.
If it’s a choice of bringing in the best experienced, proven Manager at this level and he wants his own back room staff , then so be it, the success of the club comes first.
Embleton has been a reasonable number 2 back then again how much of it was riding on the coat tails of JE ?
One thing for sure is that he certainly is not an experienced, proven Manager at this level.
Nobody wants to see Ross lose his job and yes he has a family to support, but so do many people in all different industries.
The club cannot put sentimentality before the success of our club, otherwise he would have a job for life and that’s crazy.
The club if they haven’t done already need to immediately seek applications with one credential only, that being that they are an experienced, proven Manager at this level with no caveats at all.
