Club moving forwards
The board (forum) has been in a bit of a meltdown for a couple of weeks and some of what said has been articulated rather well. Now the board has taken a decision to remove fletch the wand that they wove is not made of magic and the damaged of the last 29 days is not fixed within the last few days. So we as fans need to accept a bit of reality, get behind the team and back them to the hilt, only then can the scars heal, the confidence grow and hopefully the results return to a more even and positive level.
Coaching team - it seems like they were marginalised and that causes them issues with the players in the short term. Now that they are back in control I would like to think that they will now instil some much needed light relief maybe a day team bonding so as to get everyone back on the same page. Draw up the training plan and give it to the players thus providing a roadmap of what’s going to happen till say the end of the year. That brings clarity and certainty to the players who right now need a bit of that along with some tlc. I trust that the coaches will now look to build on the positives that the team has, rather than dwell on the negatives and look to accentuate what we are good at.
Dof - rather than take a break as he suggests, he needs to pull his finger out and obtain the required players for the jan window which in reality is right around the corner. We need a combative centre midfielder, stop making excuses ling and get one in. That way the flair players in our team can express themselves better knowing that behind them is a player to mop up their mistakes. Accept James is not the answer and bring in a forward to supplement and or improve what we have right now. Matt is being asked to carry this team and whilst he comes away with credit in my eyes it can be argued that relying on a 35 year old to do what he’s been doing is a tad unrealistic.
Players - they need to step up their fitness levels, put in a shift in every training session, pull your fingers out like you did last season and try to get this season back on track ASAP. The fans are behind you, but we need to see a little more effort and a little more quality once you cross that white line, you do that then we will fall inline with you. Back the coaching team, support them and go out and do the business for you, them, the club and us fans. It’s all we ask.
The fans - we have a job to do and that’s support your team. We need to back the players, know that they have come through an awful situation in losing their boss and likely friend. The shock was massive across all levels of the club down to us fans who may not have known Justin personally, but what a profound effect he had on this club, team and fans. The last month has been hard and it’s clear to see what that was down to, let alone the players. But let’s get back to supporting the boys once more home and away, show them we are behind them and want them to do well and hopefully once more we can start to look up and not down.
The board - they have admitted the mistake in hiring fletch and that’s to be applauded cos they are the ones who ultimately will pay for that mistake out of their pockets. You need to look at what went wrong, and as big businessmen I am sure you will do so and learn quickly from that process. Please back the coaching team and give them the tools to do their jobs, maybe a bit of warm weather training might just lighten the mood around he club, allow for focus to return to the playing staff and allow the bonding I spoke of above to prove fruitful. You’ve done a great job so far and I’m sure that you will continue to do so in the future. We are behind you.
Im up for the fight, I just hope everyone else is.

Re: Club moving forwards
Tbh Thor I think the fans have been pretty good, pretty loyal. 5.7k average. 4.2k season tickets. Sure we have a job to do and by and large are doing it well. 4th in the table unlike the team. And this is despite some poor performances. But for me the fun and enjoyment going to Brisbane Road is fading. Becoming a chore, a habit borne out of loyalty. Bet I’m not alone.
The catalyst for revival for me will be January. If some of the obvious issues are not addressed then my visits will undoubtedly reduce. Next season I’ll just choose my games and not bother with a ST. I’ll always be a fan, just less frequent.
Ross-the-Boss for this season at least. It remains to be seen if he can make the transition from being one of the lads to the boss, not easy with January approaching and decisions being made now on players with no future in the squad. We shall see.
The Board are talking a very good talk. Be interesting to see if they give Ross and Ling money. Especially in view of Fletcher’s appraisel of the squad, which despite other issues, will have made them think.
So if we go into the second half of the season without improvements then we will know just how ambitious the Board are, happy to plod along in L2.
As for the players, fitness levels have been an issue from day 1. The speed and quality of the Cheltenham players was an eye opener. What’s been done to address this? Not a lot if Fletcher works on this early on. The back room staff need to take a good look at themselves.
So maybe some good will come out of Fletchergate. Hope so

Re: Club moving forwards
I think Ross needs a bit of understanding and patience from the fans for what a difficult job he has.

Agreed especially because it's a job he doesn't even want.Howling Mad Murdock wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 1:51 pm I think Ross needs a bit of understanding and patience from the fans for what a difficult job he has.
How on earth did we get here? If only there was someone on this Board with the minerals and insight to air their views and explain it all.

Re: Club moving forwards
Of course. And despite some comments on here he gets a decent reception from the fans. There are plenty of business managers out there, new to a job and doing a tricky job who don’t get the level of support he is getting from the Board. In some respects he is quite lucky.Howling Mad Murdock wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 1:51 pm I think Ross needs a bit of understanding and patience from the fans for what a difficult job he has.

Re: Club moving forwards
It would be interesting to hear Fletchers side of things but that’s unlikely to happen of course.
He obviously identified quickly that we have some players who aren’t fit enough and hopefully this makes Ross think and gets to work on this now. Why this wasn’t picked up earlier I’m not sure, if I was Nigel Travis I’d want to know WTF have all the coaches and fitness coach have been doing.
January is really going to be a key time for us as a club and Ling really needs to identify some recruits quickly as currently we look to be in free fall.
Hopefully Wilkinson and Angol will be back soon as yesterday we looked to have little goal threat in us at all.

Re: Club moving forwards
My only concern is that it's difficult to get quality in the January window. Some loan signings would help and a new fitness coach too.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 2:26 pm It would be interesting to hear Fletchers side of things but that’s unlikely to happen of course.

Re: Club moving forwards
The Board will have heard is views and no doubt take some on board. I don’t think the issue was his lack of ideas or even his opinions of players, staff, fitness etc. but the implementation process which alienated people.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 2:26 pm It would be interesting to hear Fletchers side of things but that’s unlikely to happen of course.

Maybe he was trying too hard, to do too much, too soon without taking his key team and senior players along with him, Big mistake, huge. Loan wolf leader. Not a good trait. Except in a dictatorship.

Doh, one of the benefits of Fletcher going is that you won’t have me banging on about ‘Carling’ all the time.

Says the cluster bomb of inane mutterings
See the other thread where JackaThory is having a dig at Sam Ling and then you might understand why I personally think his essay is null and void

I thought he had been a while ago. Every post attacks someone. Not sure what sort of gratification he gets to be honest.
