This is far far more than one mistake
The fiasco with Fletcher has been rightly acknowledged by the club owners and management this week, but the problems at Orient right now are due to a litany of bad decisions which must not be overlooked.
These include
1. Failing to procure a league standard goal keeper - Brill is a trier but he’s not up to scratch and never will be.
2. Taking Alibi off the transfer list
3. Failing to sign a combative midfielder - persisting with Gorman ghastly alongside the inadequate midfield we currently have - not least emotional signing Josh Wright who is no asset to this team.
4. Extending contracts for some if the squad including Ling - the club trying to be nice and show loyalty to players who are not up to scratch.
5. A farcically organised managerial recruitment campaign blighted by insisting that the JE structure plus Jobi remains in place.
6. Macklin’s short-sighted hiking if kids season ticket prices - driving away the next generation whilst leaving the rest of us to endure substandard dross on the playing field.
This is not one mistake - but many

Agree bar Wright, who I think is a solid signing for this level if we brought in the combative CM along side him we've been crying out for.
Also add to that
- not bringing in cover for Widdowson, as soon as he's injured the side gets unbalanced playing people out of position
- selling your two best assets and not reinvesting the money to ensure you have a squad with the quality and depth to get through a season where the transfer window is shut and there's no way to remedy squad shortages

Hence why Travis said
" we will look at Everything including ourselves & the processes involved ".
Maybe they will realise being in America isnt working.

I agree . The one standout failure for me was we didn't bring in that combative central midfielder to partner Wright .

Again you have to lay that at Ling's door. Failed miserably at it last summer (2018) with the Adams saga and again now. The Marsh loan is a pale imitation if they won't even play the lad.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 8:33 pmgshaw wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 7:39 pm Agree bar Wright, who I think is a solid signing for this level if we brought in the combative CM along side him we've been crying out for.

Yup he had a decent run of 2-3 games when Clay was out then immediately dropped soon as he returned to being available.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 8:35 pm Weren't we in alright form when gorman was playing?

I would definitely start one of them beside Wright next Saturday instead of Clay who I think is in need of a rest .

I believe Gorman should be playing. He will always try to get on the ball and make things happen. I have no idea why he is not starting in this team, this midfield. The team were getting results earlier in the season when he was involved. He is fit after recovering from a serious injury, he has had a full pre season. He will become a really good player for Orient but he needs to be playing.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 8:35 pm Weren't we in alright form when gorman was playing?
We have players in this team that appear to be undropable. When Ross publicy stated he was standing down and played the likes of Gorman, the results improved but he was back to his old tricks today with that starting line-up.
Too many players in the team are struggling. What do they be at in training? Confidence appears to be rock bottom.

Don’t give a toss who plays next week. I’m having a few weeks break. Can’t be arsed to do the long journey to Brisbane road nor the away trip to Oldham.
Bet I’m not alone

There is no correlation between Gorman playing and improved results.RoryRocks wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 11:11 pmI believe Gorman should be playing. He’s not done it when he’s had the chance, unfortunately.

That's simply not true if you look back at those results.RedO wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 12:09 amThere is no correlation between Gorman playing and improved results.RoryRocks wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2019 11:11 pmI believe Gorman should be playing. It’s not true.
He’s had his chances and failed to impress time and time again. Not that Clay and Wright have either. None of the current lot are the answer.

That's your opinion, I respect it but I respectively disagree.

Re: This is far far more than one mistake
That does seem to be where the money is going, meanwhile the U23 sides come in and nab said players for relative peanuts and we don't even get a season out of them. If the fixed price compensation rules come into effect we'll end up subsidising Championship and Premiership youth development, crazy.UpminsterO wrote: ↑Sun Nov 17, 2019 4:06 am It appears that income into this club gets distributed internally according to the budget of each section
Income from sale of a player does not automatically get allocated to the funds required to replace that player
The owner said in the last QA recording that the youth set up has many none playing staff
(It seems they see the future of the young ones being developed and then sold as we,if we go up the divisions their value goes up but the costs to develop them rises in a much smaller amounted a proportion)
