McAnuff

Post by gshaw »

Sadly no surprise to hear he's needed another op and as Embleton says in the interview won't be seeing him playing for some time. I think it unlikely we'll see him in an Orient shirt again aside from a farewell appearance or two at end of the season, would love to be wrong but doesn't look hopeful.

That was always the fear :(

He pushed himself above and beyond the limit last season and tbf don't begrudge paying him an extra year wages as he was worth every penny. Gutted though as his leadership on the field was immense.

An extended contract for a 38 year old carrying an injury was always likely to end in tears. Still he’s probably got a job for life given he’s now an established part of the existing Orient back room set up.

This. Same with Turley and Brill.

Was Brill carrying an injury we didn't know about then? Seemed like he did it over the summer, shouldn't have been rushed back but with Sargeant as the only option it didn't leave much choice :?

Ross (in July): “I think at the back end of the season it caught up with Brill and he was suffering from a shoulder problem".

Considering we won promotion as Champions , it was worth it .

That wasn`t the problem. The problem was that those players, with minor injuries, had to play a game three weeks later.

Been saying this from day one.

They’ve been so cagey about what it is. It was pretty evident he wasn’t going to come back for us.

Even more reason we should've brought in a senior pro over summer. Sargeant isn't ready / up to being a first XI player at this level.

Again sentiment over pragmatism. A complete waste of money.

Some might call it a gamble, some might argue we keep a committed person who loves the club, is a leader not just on the pitch and who could be a potential good coach and manager in the future. Justin spoke well of him and what he did as his captain, coaching is that next logical step and if you’ve ever spoke to him or listened to what he says he knows his stuff. So whilst it might be a shame he is not on the pitch at present, I believe long term he will prove to be a success here as a coach and then as a manager. Personally in time, I’d love that to be here with us, so maybe we’ve bought his future and commitment to our great club.

How many more bloody coaches do we need. Too many chiefs and not enough Indians . It’s players we need, players that can actually tackle and impose themselves on the game.
