Definitely a big issue - far too complacent. The fact other promoted teams were good enough for League Two was a correlation, not causation when you had a squad like ours.

A just as big issue is new deals handed out to the likes of Coulson and Brill which will be albatrosses for the next 18 months. These are definitely on Ling too.
All true, but I think the problem is that the players might be so badly affected by the events of the summer that they can't truly be loyal to a new man, which I guess is understandable.
So the players may as well hang up their boots as they can never work under someone else? Nonsense
Not my point at all, but not surprising that you don't get it. As a squad, they were always going to adapt to this unique change. It was always likely that they would be affected.

Squad's get broken up all the time for all manner of reasons. Ferguson was genius at doing it at United. I think a process of renewal needs to happen here in order to truly 'get over' the events of the summer.

No. They are paid sports players they have to follow instructions - there a big difference about loyal behaviour and incapable -unless the instructions were just too technical for this level
Yes but they are not robots. They have emotions and have just lost their inspiration. Of course they were going to be affected by somebody else being in that position, especially if they do it differently.

It may show how difficult it is for new Manager, to have come in after Justin. Oh well hopefully Ross can take of where he left, with a continuation of a good run of results.

I hope Ross continues where he left off. I have little doubt the players will work hard for him. Good luck Ross.

He has to be accountable for making our club look a total embarrassment.
Back to the Benshitti days.
LING OUT
Nah. As stated a hundred times before Ling wittles down the pile of applications to the top three based on the criteria laid out by messrs Travis and Teague. They were at liberty to peruse the other applications at any point. The final three candidates were all interviewed by T&T and they plumped for Fletcher. This can't be laid solely at Ling's door. They all have to take the blame.
I believe the process was Martin had a coffee with a few of them, put a few calls out for references, Martin and Matt Porter then sat down to interview the final 4, they chose Fletcher who then had a video call with Travis and/or Teague.

This lies firmly at the feet of Lingy.

I don't agree with your point, but related to it is another point I made during the summer - that churn in the playing squad would be no bad thing given how some players would have been affected by Edinburgh's death and it might be better to move some on for a fresh start.
For sure many people were affected but life moves on and the players who were loyal to Justin also have families that need to be supported and players have a loyalty to them too. They also have a loyalty to build on his legacy. So tough as it is the motivation to move forward in a positive way is immense.

Player churn. Normal in the game. Perhaps some are still here because they are seen as having earned the chance to prove they can do it at a higher level. Maybe with a better manager they still can.
A fresh start somewhere else might have helped both them and us to move on though.

We all knew this would be a gamble and its not paid off - At least our board have held their hands up and have accepted they made a mistake.

I like what Martin Ling has done so far since he came back, but he is now under some pressure to sort this out.

The players need to take a long hard look at themselves for sure. Quitting on a manager like that just isn't on.

What a complete and utter shambles! The Board need to take a long, hard look at themselves as well after facilitating this fiasco and if the coaching staff and players are complicit then they really should hang their heads. Even Beelzebub would have found it difficult to top this !

I remember, not so long ago, that the senior management said: You are going to be suprised by who the new manager will be.
Bloody 'ell, they certainly got that one right. Shut the door on the way out, Mr. Fletcher, and goodbye.

Leyton Orient have sacked manager Carl Fletcher after less than a month in charge. #lofc #orient
I hope this is not a WUM, if it's true then thanks for the info.

Can't wait to see the selection process for the next applicants !

Whether the club wants to appoint somebody in-house or outside, they should just decide on who they want and make a move for them. Forget about advertising for people’s CVs

Sorry but this was always going to end in tears . A truly awful choice of head Coach . We needed someone a little older and with experience of managing men .

Is it Paul Tisdale next ?

So is the club to have Ross Embleton/ Danny Webb/ Jobi McAnuff in perpetuity then? Justin is gone, Embleton isn’t the answer ( and even if he was doesn’t want the job), the world turns and people need to move on. An experienced manager who is worth his salt is what was needed from day one.

No disrespect to Porter but he shouldn't, no. I've my doubts over Lingy as well given his track record. I'd have much more faith in T&T recruiting the right person - pretty much nailed on that they'll come back over and carry out proper interviews this time around.

Not sure there will be that much interest given the brief amount of time Fletcher was given, rumours of player unrest and the commitment to have to work with the existing back room set up.

Correct.

There needs to be more sacking. This fiasco wasn't just one man's fault.

Just heard the news! Right decision but we are in a mess once again.

It seems to me that Ross, Danny and Jabo should call a team meeting and let the squad air all their grievances. It seems like some of the squad having been trying their hardest over the past few games. Listening to the internet commentary has been really painful.

If everybody is happy about the team formation on Saturday (hopefully 4.4.2) then the team should be told to have some fun.

The team isn't going up! The team isn't going down! Let us start enjoying ourselves for a few games.

The owners need to get onto this quickly. From Ling down some difficult conversations and hard decisions need to happen.

Well the majority of us fans were right in not understanding the appointment in the first place, but as suggested on here I guess there was unrest behind the scenes too. At least the owners have acted and not left it too long.

Been offline all afternoon getting my motor fixed, just logged in and wow it's all gone pete tong.

I'm not surprised, it was clear he lost the players from their languid performances, if the rumours are true of a bust up with danny the air at the training ground must have been toxic.

His tactics were inept, his lack of personality projection towards the players would have been an issue, and let's be honest not once either pitch side or in interviews did he look happy.

A poor appointment and let's hope that Danny, Jobi and Ross can give back the players the confidence, belief and the fun factor to their game.

In theory we'd been looking since pre-season, yet we arrived upon someone so obviously ill suited to the job that he's gone within a month. Club will need to go on a major pr offensive after this.

Guess they deserve some credit for being decisive and cutting their losses early.
Hope Matt Porter enjoys his humble pie too after saying the days of us bringing in managers who have been sacked multiple times have gone.
Absolutely this. Him and Ling should be taking some serious flak from the board for making such a mess of the appointment.

Also the coaching staff and players need to take a long hard look at themselves too. Sounds like they've done a number on Fletcher to get him out, which doesn't sit well either.

Now we're stuck with Ross again, no steps forward, quite a few back.

(the new thread title is comedy gold though I must say!)
