Charisma & Personality
From 5 minute interviews
Fletcher has been accused of lacking in both.
From some of the Boring F*ckers on here
I wonder how many would pass the charisma test ?

Re: Charisma & Personality
For sure if results were better I doubt any of us would give a toss that his charisma removal operation was a success. But they’re not by a long way.
But for f*** sake a little passion wouldn’t go amiss. Does he really want to be here? Do we mean anything other than a job opportunity? You just want to shake him as say for gods sake stop acting like a wet weekend in Worthing and show some energy, desire, passion. Anything to show he’s actually alive.

It does when you are trying to motivate a team of people. I think we are now seeing why Fletcher was moved aside from managing the Under 23s to Loan Manager, a role where he didn't have to actually manage a team. He is a disaster.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Mon Nov 11, 2019 6:58 pm It also does not necessarily affect a person's ability to do a job.

The question is not who would, but who needs to. Some roles it don’t matter, others it’s critical.
It certainly helps when you’re motivating others to have a little something that people respond too. Can just see players dozing off in tactical training sessions. Tbh I can see Fletcher dozing off first.

Re: Charisma & Personality
Imagine if you went for a job interview (or indeed were on the panel) - would you hire someone who showed such a lack of interest in the post?
From the moment he's walked in there seems no real drive there at all, something just doesn't seem right.

Personally I think the M&T result was a big wake up call. A massive kick up the clubs collective arse, not to mention a kick in the goolies on us fans. Manager and players under pressure.Howling Mad Murdock wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 1:40 pm We will see on Saturday but I'm not too hopeful.
A reaction is called for and if they can’t react to that then we are in the brown stuff.
So I expect the club to go all guns blazing on Saturday to restore a bit of the pride that seems to have gone. Well, that the hope anyway.

Re: Charisma & Personality
So let's flip that around then. We know there was an interview process and he was the successful candidate after interviews, including one with Teague and/or Travis who will have hired numerous high ranking employees in the past and are therefore well drilled in interviewing and recruitment (though not in football, but that's irrelevant when evaluation the enthusiasm and charisma someone shows).
Does that not suggest to you that how he is on camera is very different to how he is away from that? I know that I'm fine with presenting to however many people or having difficult conversations with people but if you stick a video camera in my face that changes and I become very self conscious. The guy won't have had to do interviews like this on camera straight after a game. So let's cut him some slack until he's had a chance to improve this and adjust.

interpretation of his interviews ,
Remember public speaking is not easy for some people even if it is just an interviewer & a Camera.
Im not saying he is any different in everyday life &
in some respects i would agree totally with your own
Opinions on him.
But without going for a few pints or having a curry with the guy , its difficult for us to know what he is like
around the club or in everyday life.

Re: Charisma & Personality
Of course, away from the pressures of DD and what are the regular dire performances he has to comment on he may well be a great communicator. He must have shown more with the Board than we see. Surely. If his interviews with them mirror what we see his appointment would be beyond comprehension.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 2:52 pmBut Doh , again that comes from your owndOh Nut wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 11:31 amThe question is not who would, but who needs to. But like I’ve said before I’m less interested in his style, or lack of, after games. I don’t care about the Ums, Ers, and annoying fidgets but only the message he is trying to put across. It’s in this respect he simply fails to instil any confidence at all with me. I’m sorry but to me he comes across as a clueless man out of his depth and drowning. I’m sure he’s not, I hope he’s not.
I hope when in his comfort zone he is a great communicator of ideas and has the ability to motivate the team, be the leader the players would go the extra mile for. Using that as a measure, performances tend to reflect what we see and hear so far.
But Saturday is another game, another chance to shine and hopefully a post match interview where he can crow about a great performance and result. Hope so, want to stop looking at the gap to the bottom and start looking at the gap to the playoffs.

Which means we really need to give him a couple of months to implement his ideas . If by january nothing happens we can look again possibly .
Or allow him players of his choosing to
Come in .
Personslly i hope we get wins .
Not for a case of liking him or not
But as with all O's fans for the Love of this

Re: Charisma & Personality
I would love him to be a very successful manager for us. But very few managers get to choose all their players, they inherit a squad and modify gradually. I see the real skill of a manager as getting the best out of what you have, with a few additions each window a plus.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 4:24 pm Which means ee really need to give him a couple of months to implement his ideas . I don’t believe he is getting the best out of what we have by some way. Especially as he inherited a team with three wins on the bounce and on the back of a championship winning season when, even during some poor displays, the team fought like tigers to the end.
Compare to Sol Campbell. Now there is a guy who has inherited problems and needs loads of time. But Fletcher inherited so much more.
Still, roll on Saturday. A decent win and all this crap will subside for a while.

Just pointing out both of us are dissapointed without the need for " Sack the geezer immediately" because we lost a cup game .
If he has anything about him 10 games will be enough for fans to see if he has it.
Remember with JE we had a vastly more experienced man who came in & switched it up with almost immediate effect.
Oh for him to still be here & with us.

Re: Charisma & Personality
We will probably never have another JE - he was truly remarkable and he possessed bearing and gravitas. What really gets to me is that Norman Stanley's reaction to the cup loss seemed to be "it's just another game of football". It was not. It was our chance to dream of a great day out come early January. The fact is we were 12-1 ON for that game. This being the case, he should have shown some humility and passion. I did not want him to pass his best congratulation to Maldon and Tiptree in the aftermath of the disaster.
