Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
Thor is talking about his reaction as he walked off the pitch. Quite clearly your wet dream fantasy isn't what anyone should have expected. Even just acknowledging the crowd would not have been sensible since the resultant anger from the fans would just have escalated things.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 4:31 pmNo, because it is the decent and honourable thing to do.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 4:30 pmYou expect that because you're a hard of thinking pillock though.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 4:28 pm

I doubt that Ling is even in the owner's thoughts of being dumped simply because they think the sun shines out of his arse.

Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
Paul Went in 1981 lost all 5 of his league games in charge, after being given the job and no goals scored.
Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
The nature of managers is that for the vast majority, a job only lasts a couple of years.
We could get a really experienced guy such as Gary Johnson who has been sacked several times, but might still do a good job for us.
I said our approach was a bit arrogant in another thread, simply because I haven't seen many other clubs discard the experience line so casually, almost as if there is something inherent in our structure which deems this attribute as less important to us than others. There may be a few exceptions but coaches with no experience get top jobs because of cost restraints, a past history with the employing club, or perhaps a great playing career, none of which really apply to Fletcher.
Out of Steve Davis, Justin Edinburgh and Carl Fletcher it does seem that a successful track record is actually pretty important and carries more weight than simply slotting into the structure. We seemed to have reversed priorities on this.
The thing is, if we got rid of Ling, who would replace him? We need a managing director. It seems that this role has no real way to assess performance, but I would say the structure he has set up prevented better candidates from getting through to the board for final interviews. Davis was employed under different terms I feel (Ling having a bigger role in how the football was played). But I think he's stepped away from that now, so why the need for Ross?
Be it a player or a manager with our money we should be targeting the best in this division, looking at the names linked before Fletcher I think clearly something has prevented that from happening.

Yes his name is Ling and he prevented better qualified and able people to take us over.

What is this modern lust for a DOF? Cannot see it myself, at any level.
Fletcher and Ling out frees enough wages for a decent experienced manager with some b@lls.

Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
At the higher echelons of the club we now seem to have a trio of Ling, Macklin and Porter. That seems excessive and in Porter's case bringing the cult of Hearn back into the club.
Get a manager who controls the playing side and a Chief Exec who handles the rest.
Whole club seems to be over populated with staff. Large off-field wage bill and we wonder why money appears to be tight on the playing side?

Macklin yes, Porter judging by what he spouted on the podcast and his links to Hearn... no thanksDisoriented wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 5:05 pmPorter and Macklin know what they are doing though.gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 5:03 pm At the higher echelons of the club we now seem to have a trio of Ling, Macklin and Porter. Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
Don't think Porter has any involvement day-to-day, or even is paid by the club.
With both owners being hands-off, and seemingly Macklin tasked with driving revenues I think there is a need for a go-between between the manager and the board, be that Ling or someone else.

Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
Owners need to realise the manager they have appointed is a mistake
End it now before the consequences are much worse, don't throw away all the newly built goodwill.
No idea why he seemed to be the best candidate, can't find anything to support their decision

Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
That’s the frightening thing for me. His post game interviews are excruciating so god knows how he came across in the interview? His tactics seems inept, his motivation appears non exsistant and his rapport with the players well, maybe the rumours are right. His rapport with the fans is dead already, he is a dead man walking.one o in huntingdon wrote: ↑Sun Nov 10, 2019 5:16 pm Owners need to realise the manager they have appointed is a mistake

Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
Fletcher and Ling are going nowhere (bit like the team at the moment). They will look to weather the storm in the hope that a few decent results will justify their roles and prove them right in their eyes.
The only thing that will change this is the team hitting the bottom four. Fletcher won’t resign, it would be the end of his managerial career so he will stick it out to the bitter end. Taking us down with him if need be.
I’m afraid we are stuck with him and just hope we pick up enough points as we bump along the rocky road. Our only choice is whether to come an watch.

Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
Didn’t really pay him much attention but I caught one moment when we were 1-0 down and nearly conceded a second, he turned round to the bench with his arms out and looked totally out of his depth. Ross stepped up and said a few words then sat back down.
It’s not going to work out, we’ve taken a gamble and it’s backfired, time to cut our losses.

Re: Fletcher Out and Ling Out
Seems that Bournemouth haven't busted a gut to replace him... if we still have the receipt we could get a refund? Must be something in the Trade Descriptions act...
It really would be quite poor to sack someone straightaway, and would not give much confidence to those guys applying next.
In the light of the rumours I think backing him fully now means giving him at least one of his own backroom appointments and a few signings, but the whole point of him being manager was that everyone else could keep their job.
Tough decision for the board but I don't think it can continue in this manner. One thing to take a gamble but the trouble is we could throw away both this season and next season if the impasse continues.
