Criminal. He should have been playing here, particularly as both our mainstream strikers have been out recently.

Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
I think the concensous on here is the same as you. However, the coaching team work with him daily and deem he needs game time at a level higher than he was at last season to help him progress his career. I would t disagree with their actions on this one.
Good luck Sotiriou

Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
Good move. Get him playing some regular first team football against men in a lower division on a short term basis and then bring him back and put him into the squad and start giving him regular minutes. Much better than throwing him straight in.
Only issue is we should have looked to do this a month or two back, though I accept there may not have been takers at that point.

Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
Yep. Going straight into the matchday squad and regular gametime now may not be ideal and potentially damage his devlopment. Better to not be reckless with him. There's nothing to lose from a bit of patience. But a lot potentially to lose from impatience.

He’s not ready for this level but he will be after a month of playing in the conference?
We have 2 cup games coming up he could have started in

Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
Have we ever successfully developed one of our own players through the loan system?

Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
It gives him a better start by dropping down a level, regular football against grown men and getting used to that and then coming back and hitting the ground running. Fletcher probably wants to use the cup games as part of him getting to know the squad and his options formation wise. No bad thing if it helps us improve the squad in the medium or long run. I just can't see any bad reasons for sending Sotiriou out on loan.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:00 pm He’s not ready for this level but he will be after a month of playing in the conference?

Send him on a longer term deal then.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:04 pmIt gives him a better start by dropping down a level, regular football against grown men and getting used to that and then coming back and hitting the ground running. Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
If the objective is to get him acclimatised before we introduce him into our squad for the busy Xmas period then there's no need. Better to do that at a team a division down so it doesn't impact on our first team games.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:15 pmSend him on a longer term deal then.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:04 pmIt gives him a better start by dropping down a level, regular football against grown men and getting used to that and then coming back and hitting the ground running. Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
He couldn’t have played against Brighton u23s and Maldon, then come off the bench for other games? Wilkinson and Angol will be back by Christmas, his chance of getting games will be even lower. This isn’t about development, it’s about Dover needing a striker.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:19 pmIf the objective is to get him acclimatised before we introduce him into our squad for the busy Xmas period then there's no need. Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
And their getting a decent striker as well . Is Hess still Dover manager ? If so its a good move by him.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:23 pmHe couldn’t have played against Brighton u23s and Maldon, then come off the bench for other games? Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
How does this move affect whether he will be getting first team experience with us? Just because it's not happening right this minute it doesn't mean it won't in the near future. There's more to a football season or a player's development curve than only "now".RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:30 pmAgreed. Re: Sotiriou moves on loan
Maybe as the head coach has experience in this sector in his previous role we might garner some good players from the loan market and utilise our own in that market better than we have previously.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:03 pm Have we ever successfully developed one of our own players through the loan system?

Moses was loaned out to three separate clubs during his time at Orient.Lucky7 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 01, 2019 1:45 pm Can’t recall Moses Odabajo been sent out on loan straight from the youth team to the first team

Always love it when a guesser has their bluff called.
As for being a different player...that would still have been a valid reason. Different players have different development curves and are on different paths depending on their level of ability and potential ceiling. There's no one size fits all approach to developing players.
