Re: Derby Players
No doubt DCFC would have taken a different view Had he slipped over on holiday around the pool, but he didn't. He got into a car p***** with a p***** driver. As this was a 'club night', no doubt they're taking the view of gross misconduct, (which is what he was sacked for) which is hard to argue with.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 10:55 pmHe wasn't driving the car and the 2 people who caused the crashed are still employed. This is complete opportunism by Derby to get rid of a high earner. They were happy for him to stay if he took the cut. He could have slipped over on holiday around a pool and done the same injury, would they have sacked him then? Would they have asked him to take a pay cut?Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Wed Oct 30, 2019 8:58 pm Plenty defending Keogh, and attacking the club on social media, it seems.
Guess the club's viewpoint is the player is no longer of use to them (at 34 and with an ACL), so why should they pay him £24k a week when the injury sustained is seen as wholly a by-product of his own stupidity.
Guess Derby probably offered him a drop to about £6k, which he turned down flat.
Staggered that such a humdrum Championship player appears to have been earning that sort of money for the last 7 years, in all honesty. No wonder DCFC are fuming.
The 2 people who caused the crash are still employed Because they're still able to do their jobs Despite their own mis-judgements. Keogh isn't.
I agree though, it Is opportunism by Derby, and does smell, but as a business, their actions are hardly unexpected.

Re: Derby Players
You really think they’ll get away with that line? I just can’t see it - how can they retain the services of the 2 men who were drunk driving but sack a passenger? Especially after offering him a reduced salary initially.
I wish we had a legal expert who could advise us.

Re: Derby Players
This seems to fall under “1 player with no sell on value on high wages” and “2 young players on lower wages and potential high sell on values”
None of the players involved have acted properly in this matter and one got seriously hurt. I see a couple of court actions coming out of this. In Keough case he will not doubt be claiming on the car insurance for his injuries and potential career ending injury and now lose of job?

A lot of insurance policies are voided if you get into a vehicle knowingly being driven illegally.
Also as Club captain you have responsibilities off the pitch as well as on it.

Re: Derby Players
You're wrong. Firstly, the 2 people who caused the crash are still employed. Secondly, they offered him the chance to stay at the club if he took a pay cut. This has nothing to do with gross misconduct, this is completely about getting him off the wage bill. So no, it isn't hard to argue with.Scuba Diver wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2019 7:24 amNo doubt DCFC would have taken a different view Had he slipped over on holiday around the pool, but he didn't. Re: Derby Players
Keough has now appealed his sacking. Whilst I’m not a legal eagle, he is sure to win his appeal especially as the others were slapped with fines. The cynic in me says they have sell on value and he does not. Look at the club statement.
As we have said from the outset, the Club will not tolerate any of its players or staff behaving in a manner which puts themselves, their colleagues, and members of the general public at risk of injury or worse, or which brings the club into disrepute.'
So the passenger who got hurt is sacked and the drivers who caused it get slapped on the wrists, now maybe Spen can pipe up here, surely they have not handled the three fairly or in the same manner or to the same standards?
