I noticed after we cocked up a move and gave them a throw he was really geeing them up. Like he sensed we were crumbling and they were taking over. Quite animated once or twice.tuffers#1 wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 7:40 pm I thought we were good 1st 25-30 minutes in the 1st half .
We backed off for the remainder & let them grow in confidence. How we didnt go 2 up just before half time is a mystery to me .
Carlisle gaffer must have given them stick & said we were gash, but there only 1 up.

FFS where do you get your info from it was 2 out 2 ingshaw wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 7:32 pmFirst half there was some nice link-up play, good triangles little lay-offs etc. much better than usual.
CM wasn't sorted over summer, 2 pros out only 1 in and still no combative Dawson / Vincelot style player. Marsh is just a younger version of Clay / Gorman, not a bad player by any stretch but likewise not the answer either.
Lawless & Lee out
Marsh & Wright in
& Marsh looks like he will be a good player, still only 20 so will probably will be better than Clay has ever been. (I like Clay as well but he's just an honest League 2/National League grafter)

Marsh looks ok in pAtches but he ain’t the the answer to our midfield problems.

Hence why he’s on loan nut so as to gain experience which will take him one step closer to the Spurs first team.

2 out but with losing Jobi, it's basically 3 out. We started the season with just 3 CMs in Clay, Gorman and Wright.O my gawd wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 10:53 pmFFS where do you get your info from it was 2 out 2 ingshaw wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 7:32 pmFirst half there was some nice link-up play, good triangles little lay-offs etc. much better than usual.

Marsh didn't join until last month. He's a good honest kid and will obviously have a career in the game but it ain't going to be top flight or with Spurs. Of course he'll be a better player than Clay, he possibly is now.
It's just frustrating we give game time to other teams kids, let them make their mistakes with us, but won't give game time to our own players who we will actually benefit from developing.

Bottom line is if, after selling Bonne and Koroma, we started the first game of the season with Harrold as a lone front man we would all have been up in arms. For a variety of reasons that's were we where yesterday. To come away with four out of nine points in the three games after Wilkinsons's ban is not bad, once he returns and especially when Angol comes back we will be a different team.

Thankfully Fletch has got one thing by not having Alibi , just got yo work on the rest of his job a lot more.RedO wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 9:32 pmThere has to be something in this, Ling/Embleton wanting to be proved right on this. Why persist in playing him when we've seen MH make a better fist of it than him? It's almost like Ling wants to be proved right by his signings, sometimes things just dont work out for either party, this could be one of those occasions.
I still hope he comes good, but each passing week.......

The best form of defense is attack(sometimes) too many times go infront then take the foot off, sit back and aren't good enough to defend for 90 minutes, whereas yesterday against a poor team yesterday should've gone for the 2nd and 3rd, obviously if playing someone good you change slightly

Wasn’t at the game, only seen a few highlights, but immediate reaction was here we go again with the goal conceded, ball bobbling around in the area, no one can get rid of it and eventually someone wallops it in. Far too many like that of late.

It’s almost as if teams have noticed we have a keeper who won’t leave his line or something.

Streamed it. Same thoughts as most on here, almost shocking how we dropped off so much second half compared to how we were first. The goal came at a crucial time for them in the balance of play and really knocked all stuffing out of us. Passing was so wayward second period as well considering the excellent nature of what we were doing first.
I’ll say this though, take your two best strikers out of any side and it’s going to have a huge effect, doesn’t matter who you are. Different strokes but take Aubmeyang and Lacazette out of Arsenal or Jesus/Aguero out of City and they're completely different propositions. Like others I don’t necessarily agree with the fatigue point but you can’t tell me that starting Matt Harrold on his own up top for the 3rd game in a row isn’t going to have an effect on him...
All in all, without Angol/Wilkinson we’ve done ok to pick up 4 points in 3 games with 2 tough away journeys in there too.

Re: Ratings thread
Ollie Skipp who is 2 years younger than Marsh and plays central midfield, is already in the 1st team squad, so it unlikely Marsh is going to make at Spurs, unless he is late developer.

Re: Ratings thread
Angol has six games in his last 38 in the last three years, one in six, it's hardly goals galore is it(not saying Angol is a poor player by any stretch), on the other hand thought Wilkinson was garbage when he was being played as a target man, which he looked like he thoroughly hated, once he was given the ball on the floor he looked very good.Jman wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 1:59 pm I’ll say this though, take your two best strikers out of any side and it’s going to have a huge effect, doesn’t matter who you are. The best thing for Wilkinson was when Angol got injured and Harrold came in, as it allowed him to play football rather than be a knock-off Jan Koller

He has ability surely you can see that? He has recently been awarded a new contract so Poch sees something in him. Loan time out and he may just improve his game. He has a long way to go, but cut him some slack (not you, this board) he's just a baby starting out and he's decent.

But the last two games have been stinkers, missing strikers or not.

It’s not going to help his progress in the current side here.

Are you two serious? The ball was played too fast into him as he was running onto it so it was impossible for him to get a decent shot away. Gorma not to blame there at all.MrB wrote: ↑Sat Oct 26, 2019 10:32 pmThat Gorman shot really wound be up.Just knew it would end up in row z. We seem to play better for some reason kicking into the TJS stand, which we did today unusually in the First Half, so I presume that maybe we lost the toss ??
Anyway, a good first half with the only thing missing was more goals and a lack of shots at the goal with players preferring to pass rather than shoot.
Matt Harrold did well on his own up front but inevitably ran out of steam. If James Alabi doesn’t come on to replace him in the second half, then he must know that he’s on his way out.
The 2nd half was awful, and I can’t remember a game where we’ve played for a period without any forwards on the pitch.
I know we only had Alabi on the bench, but wouldn’t he have been better than bringing on more midfielders ??
Maybe not, but we could easily have lost today and I think Carlisle deserved their point.
JMD, Gorman and Dennis who came on didn’t do too much and Gorman’s poor shot right at the end of the 2nd half shows typified what’s wrong. The ball was nicely laid off for him and he couldn’t even hit the target.
Fletch’ has plenty of food for thought but at least Wilkinson should return for the trip to Morecambe next week.

I still would like to see Marsh at RB, he can play there, he can tackle and do most thing solidly, I think it would suit him, he has played there for Tottenham before.
