Yes it was the 2nd half that worried me more.

Re: Carl Fletcher interview
Why have they only had 2 or 2 1/2 hours training since he came in? What have they been doing all week?

Re: Carl Fletcher interview
And whY was that training good enough to produce a decent first half display and not a decent second half display?
Mental fatigue according to Brill.

Re: Carl Fletcher interview
I didn’t want to place too much importance on his interview to the press. How he comes across to the players and staff is what matters. I really want to give him the benefit and see how this pans out but I’ve a nagging doubt you’re right.
I’ve just watched Justin’s first interview back after his first game, the 1-0 defeat at Solihull. And the difference is like night and day.

Let us not forget that Justin had already hundreds of interviews beforehand and also older and wiser than Carl.

You are absolutely right. The attitude and approach is night and day. High expectations, demanding, positive in defeat. But then not many were like JE to be fair.RedO wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 10:11 amI didn’t want to place too much importance on his interview to the press. All this drivel about fatigue. Like we are the only club who travel. Carlisle also went to Plymouth, a sodding long way, as is their journey to London. And most other places from Carlisle. So their players are physically and mentally more robust than ours?
What a load of fecking crap and so early in the season. I don’t want to listen to that sort of bolox from Fletcher and Brill. They need to man up, that second half was a disgrace so stop whining about fatigue.

Wasnt impressed with his appointment, and nothing he says makes me go........"Hang on a minute".........
The fatigue stuff is nonsense, and the bit he said about being happy with a point is ridiculous. We were at home to a side that had lost 4 on the spin. Tell you what...i wasnt happy with a point.
I dont think he has a clue what hes doing, and all i can say is, thank goodness only one goes down this season

Upminster, as you know a new manager is a crucial part of how the club might be heading. Fans are very interested and involved as to who the new man is. They are simply making an assessment. We all make assessments in life. Relax.UpminsterO wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 7:35 am It amazing the comments from some.
He is not employed at the BBC as a correspondent.
Let's try again to get through to some -and that is not an easy task.
He is an footballer who was caption of clubS and country. He is a football coach. He was selected from 40 plus applicants.
Any person as he has demonstrated has proven in his playing career to have all the positives required. Sid over time your posts are generally quite good how can you say what you have said - infact if he had the attributes you claim - he would never of managed to achieve the playing career or been a player manager at 31 or a coach at any level at Bournemouth
How he structures his sentences, how often he breathes at the end of each sentence, how he pauses or anything else is totally irrelevant.
He is a Londoner and if he uses phases they were derived from that place - you lot should know that, you are in London
I have a degree and professional memberships but I also say " who know what I mean" it just comes out occasionally instinctively - I'm not thick, he is not thick, and I am sure some of you are not thick - you just seeking any negatives to moan about

Re: Carl Fletcher interview
Agree, I also watched a couple of Justin's interviews on YouTube yesterday, yes ''Night and day'' JE was vibrant and if you played for him, well I think I would have literately ''Run through a brick wall'' for him. Tremendous motivating skills that were NOT learnt, that is how he was and how he played. I spoke to him a couple of times after pre season friendly games, he was great, I spoke to him about Ogie, OMG, he was just bubbling full of enthusiasm, great guy. Now with CF, completely different, bland, seems somewhat lacking in personality, like a manufactured ''got my coaching badges'' article. I think Jobi will be the one to watch in future, I think he will have that X factor if he becomes a manager.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 10:30 amYou are absolutely right. Re: Carl Fletcher interview
I think the way he nearly dodged some of the more controversial questions about the performance in the second half and need for signings suggests he knows what he wants to change but is holding back to try keep players onside in the meantime. Still reckon some may need to move on after having such a close bond with JE, may prove difficult to adjust to a new regime.

Re: Carl Fletcher interview
Let’s thngs things through a min.
I commented on RE slaughtering Ogie, most agreed with me and some didn’t. Maybe slaughtering was a bit strong of a word in hindsight. But here we have our manager protecting the players from the poor second half performance and people on here ain’t having it. You can’t have it both ways. Like I said at the time, you back your players in public and deal with them within the confines of the dressing room. I sense this is what he has done yesterday, so rather than he’s boring or whatever people have written above, maybe he’s being the smart one here rather than hanging people out to dry at the end of his first week or so in charge of the team.
He’s thought it through what he wanted to say, some on this thread have not.

Re: Carl Fletcher interview
I suspect most players get used to working with different managers as they or the manager moves on. Personalities will clash or gel all the time. What should be consistent is the managers ability to communicate and generate respect.gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Oct 27, 2019 11:56 am I think the way he nearly dodged some of the more controversial questions about the performance in the second half and need for signings suggests he knows what he wants to change but is holding back to try keep players onside in the meantime. Not fussed how he says stuff, Martin Ling isn’t a great speaker. But I’m very interested in what he has to say and thus far I’m not impressed. OK, he is new to the job and perhaps a little insecure given his inexperience, so being guarded. I hope he grows into the job as his confidence improves and the team get a few wins under his management.
Wish him well. Don’t want another Davies.

Re: Carl Fletcher interview
I’m not too worried about what he said , it is after all very early days yet for him to start forming strong opinions and obviously it’s more important that he comes across well to the players , rather than the media. That said, I thought he did appear a bit offhand and blasé - a bit more vigour would have done no harm.
