Personally I think our summer business was good, no doubt about that in my eyes however, find the midfield enforcer and it would have been excellent, it’s still the last piece of the jigsaw we are missing.
Difficult to criticise any of those that came in - I like all of Angol, Wilkinson, Wright and Dennis (to varying degrees). A forward line of those combined with Brophy and JMD is really exciting.
But I'm not sure it was enough business. Stepping up a division, we needed to improve but we haven't - the starting 11 this season is worse than it was last season and there is no greater depth to the squad than there was either.
No way is our starting xi weaker this season. We've gained Wright over Lee. Yes we've lost Bonne and Koroma, but Wilkinson and Angol are hardly a step down.
Lee wasn't starting. Wright has replaced Jobi.
I like both Angol and Wilkinson but come on, there's no comparison.

Fair point on Jobi, but the point remains. We've gone sideways but have a stronger squad depth now. Angol and Wilkinson are as good as any strikers in this division. We don't know how good Bonne and Koroma would have been, but our current two aren't far behind, if behind at all.
Koroma was an exciting player who offered flashes of brilliance but at other times could be criticised for his decision making and was out of the game for long spells. In the short term I don’t think the club has fared too badly in letting him go. Bonne on the other hand is a different kettle of fish.

Disagree.
Bonne over Wilkinson, all day long.
Koroma over Angol, but really, really like Angol, a lot.
Jobi over Wright (but wouldn't have minded both of them).
Marsh over Lee/Lawless, yeah probably.
You've changed from a 'no way is our starting 11 weaker' to 'we've gone sideways', which is a start. I still say that we're definitely worse. But we should have been improving significantly.

That's fair.
But Josh would occupy 2, sometimes even 3 players.

I think Wilkinson/Angol will end up with a comparable goals/game to Bonne/Koroma did last season.

That's a real bold prediction. I hope you're right.

I suspect that ML maybe expects 1 or 2 to come through from the youths, time will tell on that one.
Kyprianou will, given an opportunity force his way into contention for a starting place. I think he has all the attributes to become a top class midfield player I have seen him half a dozen times and he has improved with every viewing. his all round game is better than Clay or Gorman but he needs the chance to show it. I'm also hoping that Ruel Soitiriou gets an opportunity off the bench or as a starter in the Brighton Under 21 game can play as a striker or wide right and has a lot of pace.
It's difficult to get the young players into games but at some stage you have got to bite the bullet and give these guys a chance, Brendan Shabani and Shadrach Ogie are probably a year away from being ready, they should go out on loan to a conference side.
Although I haven't watched them for a while, I'm told we have some very good players in the under16 youth set up too.

I can imagine the only time we would have, Angol, Wilkinson, Wright, Dennis, Brophy and JMD on the pitch at the same time is if we are 2-0 down as we were Mansfield. It was very exciting to watch when we went for it second half.
I think we need to remind ourselves we had no real choice in Bonne and Koroma leaving. It’s best to look at our signings in their own right and as far as I’m concerned the club did well. Angol in particular looks a real find. Be delighted when he is back.

Yes, that's all true, but of no relevance to the conversation. But thank you.

Except that others brought our ex players up, not me, so my comment is relevant to that. But thanks anyway. Glad to know my fans are still interested.
PS. I’ll post what I like and if you don’t like it you can ......thank me again.

He will come back better, stronger and wiser. Nothing like a slapped wrist to focus the mind, especially with a new boss. With Angol to come back too things look good for Fletch.
Our problems ain’t up front but in midfield and the back. Get that sorted and it will be an enjoyable mid table season.
This Fletch thing is getting rather tedious.
As you know doubt know, Fletch is how Norman Stanley was referred to in the sit com. A reasonable handle. Carling is just f*cking tedious
For the humourless, maybe.
What is tedious is resurrecting a previously used name for a different person from a different context.
