Max you are turning into a full blown moron. Why not have a listen, Steve Tongue is the host and Tony talks very well indeed. There's also an interview with Carl Fletcher that Steve did earlier today.

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour
Steve said that the final 4 were selected, firstly I do wonder who these 4 were, does anyone have any idea? Then he said that “1 or 2 counted themselves out as they wanted to bring in their own assistants or team”.
So by that comment are we saying we had a choice of two?
Any one else have views on this?

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour
How does Steve know this information, that there were a final four and 2 of them said no because they didn't want to work in our set up?
Also, how does someone get to the final stage and only then discover that they're not prepared to work within our set up? That's bonkers.

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour
Given that the news of Fletcher broke well in advance it seems that someone was close to the action, perhaps an agent.
I reckon Calderwood was first choice but no agreement could be reached. Then it came down to Derek Adams, Darren Currie, Marijo Tot, Carl Fletcher. Those were the names in the press.
Also think there would have been managers who were interested initially but would not be once it was made clear that there was no flexibility on employing anyone else.

Hey calm down Gilso. Nobody on here wants the return of TTM and his rudeness. Least of all me.Andy Gilson wrote: ↑Thu Oct 17, 2019 11:24 pm Max you are turning into a full blown moron. I don’t know how he knows what he said, just feeding back in here for others comments, as someone may well have heard or knows if this is based on fact rather than hearsay. To your second point I do find that hard to believe as it’s well documented the set up we have and the setup going forwards.RedO wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 10:04 am How does Steve know this information, that there were a final four and 2 of them said no because they didn't want to work in our set up?

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour
I think listening back Steve said it got down to a final 6 that Martin initially met over a coffee, that went down to 4, although he thought one or two ruled themselves out over the backroom staff situation.Thor wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 10:15 amI don’t know how he knows what he said, just feeding back in here for others comments, as someone may well have heard or knows if this is based on fact rather than hearsay. Did you manage to photograph the panel together, with one of them posing in a tough guy stance ?

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour
I don't think that's the way it was; it didn't seem like he said that one or two counted themselves out after being whittled down to the six (will go back and relisten though)Thor wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 9:43 am Steve said that the final 4 were selected, firstly I do wonder who these 4 were, does anyone have any idea? The job spec would clearly have said that this was a head coach vacancy and mentioned that they'd be working with the team in place. Candidates would have known they wouldn't be able to bring their own staff when applying.

TBH it's not like the job ad is in the paper or anything.Smendrick Feaselberg wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2019 10:55 am

Some managers may be pretty clued up, others might only be alerted to their agent who has told them they can set him up with an interview at Orient and put in an application on their behalf.
Managers are generally upbeat and confident in their ability, and may think they could negotiate changes. There was nothing contractual in keeping Ross as assistant, and a manager not knowing the background may think it isn't a red line.
I do think it's realistic that some applied with the intention of trying to get the club to change their mind on it.

Re: Recording of The Orient Hour
Sure but you can't imagine they'd have made it to the final stages.
Re: Recording of The Orient Hour
The coaching line up will change in time, just the same as playing staff. If Carl can bring better staff in I'm sure this will be allowed to happen at some point.
