Tough one to rate today as it was like watching two different teams in first and second half. Expecting many adjustments to these

Brill - 5 - as a member of the GK union feel for him with that spilt cross for the first goal but last season's Brill doesn't do that. Needs some competition going forward (not Sargeant)
Widdowson - 7 - absolute beauty of a strike, changed the game. Otherwise steady.
Coulson - 6 - decent enough
Happe - 6 - maybe pushing 7 for dealing well with Gaffney
Judd - 6 - stood up well to their tricky winger, one goal came from his side though and tired second half. Maybe more of a 5.5 but I don't do half points
Clay - 4 - weak in the tackle, game passed him by
Gorman - 5 - bit better than Clay but otherwise fairly anonymous
Wright - 6 - best of our CMs, gets involved and should've scored early on
Brophy - 7 - never stopped running
Wilkinson - 5 - would've been in for a 7 with his goal but mindless sending off at 3-1 rules him out for 3 games.
Harrold - 7 - makes the ball stick, calm head for another vital goal. Proving why Ross was wrong to leave him out earlier in the season.

Marsh - 5 - didn't see much of him when he came on
Alabi - 5 - looked whacked after two sprints, trampoline touch when he tried to run the ball down the wing
Dayton - n/a - nice to see him back on the pitch again, welcome back Days 8-)

Pretty much agree with all of these except for Gorman who I actually felt put in a real shift.

I thought Gorman put in a shift too. Maybe a point higher. But pretty much right

Gorman's best game for us I reckon. Clay gets 4 and Wright worth a 6? C'mon, that's just silly.

Wilkinson really beginning to look the part but clearly needs to work on his temper.

Clay gave a very polished performance today. He is quite a silky footballer.

What would you rate Clay? I thought he was awful today. Lost out all the 50:50 challenges and as usual this season looked 2 yards behind the pace.

Perhaps I've been a tad harsh on Gorman but no player came out of that first half with any credit and Ross hooked him fairly early in the second, which seemed an odd choice.

I have to say Gorman has improved a lot since last season. I thought he played well today and agree he put I a good shift.

Yes, he did well to intercept Clarkes short back pass.

Yes and It's now very disappointing to be losing Wilkinson for three games.

With both Angol and Wilkinson out I hope we try JMD with Harrold rather than bring Alabi in.

Brill - 5 - given they dominated possession (just under 60%) he didn't have to make a save. Have to mark him down for the goal but, as my son pointed out, how often this season have we seen a goal area packed with O's players not dealing with this sort of thing.
Widdowson - 7 - wonder goal and got round the back a couple of times. Having Brophy helping him out in defence added to his game
Happe - 8 - my MoM, solid in defence and his distribution is much better than Coulson, great cross field pass in the 1st half
Coulson - 6 - solid, could have done with some protection in front of him but we don't go in for that sort of thing
Judd - 6 - targeted him as the weak link first half and he did okay. Wilkinson helping out in the 2nd half made all the difference. Decent going forward
Gorman - 5 - not a fan, looked busy and is decent with set pieces but a lot of huffing and puffing and not much else
Clay - 6.5 - thought he had a decent game and showed great composure for the second.
Wright - 6 - played much deeper than we've seen him lately. Not really a holding midfielder
Brophy - 6 - okay in the first half and was involved in the third goal but not really an outlet for much of the game
Harrold - 7 - you gotta love him, always a target for the high balls and a real knack of being in the right place when we need him
Wilkinson - 7 - would have been an 8 prior to the attempted strangulation. Put a real shift in up front and at the back. Has something about him and we will miss him for the next three goals. The partnership with Angol could be something special under a new manager.

Marsh - 6.5 - did the job he was asked to do and we will always need a holding midfielder.
Alabi - 5 - had the job of chasing around their back four and taking it into the corner when required. Did neither.

Brill - 4. Nothing to do but still managed to throw one in for them. The way he just laid on the floor and couldn’t react to get up for the rebound was diabolical. I was joking with my kid about how fat the Lino was before the game, when he was checking the nets before the second half next to Deano they were about the same size.

Judd - 6 ok. Difficult to judge as he was left one on one, sometimes two on one, all the time. Both the 25 he was directly up against and the left full back were proper pace merchants and thought he had a go. It was telling than whenever Brophy got the ball wide, Walsall works hard to double up on him. We just don’t do that.

Widdowson - 7. Quiet first half as they targeted our right, but all action in the second and what a strike with his swinger.

Coulson 6. Still sluggish and possibly carrying a bit too much timber but getting back to it.

Happe 7. Starting to show the class we knew he had consistently. Getting stronger game by game, no longer getting caught on the ball. Will be absolutely dominating games next season if he’s still here.

Wright - 6. First time I’ve seen him play as the holding player. Thought he was good at it, disciplined and offered the back line some protection. But we missed him going the ot.her way.

Clay - 5.

Gorman - 6.

Wilkinson - 6. Good on the ball but didn’t do enough without it. Couldn’t see the red so can’t comment but would be marked down if he deserved to walk.

Harold - 7. Really good outing, best I’ve seen him play when starting, looks as fit and as mobile as he’s done since joining. Which is just as well as we’re going to need him in the next month or so.

Brophy 7. Put a proper shift in today.

Marsh 6. Done really well when came on, clearly trying to show he should be starting,

Alabi 3. Embarrassing. Blowing out his arse after 5 minutes. Failed to pressure them at the back, hold theball up and stop it coming back. The one occasion he did get the ball down, he ran at their bloke, bobbled it twice, lost it then hauled their bloke down and gave them the free kick. Really not what you need when under the cosh and just need a minutes respite. Get him gone.

Imagine it will be Dennis in on the right as a straight swap.

Joe Widdowson! I think it’s safe to say he’ll never score a better goal. My MOM. Needs to give Brophy lessons on how to cut inside and shoot with your right foot.

Thought we started well until their goal which put them on top with their left flank giving us lots of problems.

Second half was much better. Thought all the midfield did OK including Clay who had his best game for some time and should get most of the credit for the second goal.

Shame Wilko had to spoil things. Didn’t really see what happened but we’ve already seen he’s got a temper and that red card has been coming. What’s the point when you’re 3-1 up? Rest of the team really dug in after that though and for once our subs seemed to work better than theirs.

And nice of the TJ to show Ross some appreciation in what sounds like will be his last game in charge.

Highlights are up.

Still can’t see what Wilkinson done to get a red. It was hand bags from both. The worst offence was their bloke putting his hand into Connors face.

Wilkinson grabs the guy round the throat, drags him along a bit and pushes him. Definite red these days I'm afraid.

Widdowson's goal gets better the more times you see it, amazing when you consider how hesitant he usually is with shooting!

Walsall did us a real turn with the second goal, incredibly sloppy play at the back but composed finishing to take the chance. Perhaps we've been owed that bit of luck and today was football levelling things out.

Sorry, just watched it back again and don’t see him as being the worst offender.

It wasn’t luck that got us the 2nd goal, it was our high tempo pressing. Mistakes happen when you commit like we had there.
