Cambridge United boss spoke to Orient - but not about manager's job
It was about the head coach role that Orient have available?

Hope not.

Barely a 25% win record over his current and previous job.

Highly selective use of stats. 41% during his 376 game managerial career, is pretty good. But he won’t be joining us anyway.

Obvious choice really.
Ling has to appoint someone he knows he can get on with.
Not quite sure what the owners will make of having to pay compensation to a club where he has just signed an improved 2.5 year contract.
Surely our DOF should have had a word in his ear and advised him to hold fire.

It's not really 'highly selective', is it? It's his most recent employment, which is arguably more relevant than when he was at a big club like Forest in L1.

Can the owners consider the way information becomes more confidential and is there any real need to inform the public on any information until they decide who they want who has accepted any offer and when that person will commence their duties ie one formal press release at the end of the process.

Talking about having coffee with the selected number by ML or now reading what the Cambridge manager spoke about in a private call is of no relevance to the objective and reading a tweet from the owner about the number of applicants, adds no real value to us the applicants or the club.
It keeps the fans quiet for a while.
Amazing how many mugs fall it.
No more stick for Ross despite the fact he is still in the same position with no idea how long it’s going to drag out for.

That is where we differ. They are acting appropriately you don'tand I can't make any further comment to your position.

Look - where we are today
Remember where we were a few years and even last year
That is a very clear act of progression
Two weeks ago I looked at the league we just escaped from I saw in the relegation and lower half
Hartlepool
Wrexham
Chesterfield
And others you would never exsoect to be there given their crowds and history

Under that evidence we going very well aren't we
No we ain’t. And stop looking at other clubs.
There are several clubs who didn’t even exist a few years ago who are a league above us.
We have a top 7 wage bill yet we are not competing, that’s what counts, and after the inevitable defeat today things are going to look worse.

If I was Ling I would be tempted to go and have coffees very public places with three or four managers of my acquaintance just for a laugh. I expect he's much too busy for that though.

Bywater - don't tell me what I can look at that is my decision.
Well of course we have other clubs higher that were lower we also have Bolton look at their history that get you really down.

Where does one stop for comparisons that's very subjective Look at Burton they been up there higher for many seasons . It all depends on the datum of reference
You bought this nonsense up and then blame me for pulling you up on it.

Not sure why you've brought MK Dons and AFC into this.

Until we know whether that's a top 7 player wage bill or a top 7 wage bill for all staff (academy, commercial etc.) it's difficult to make that argument as a case for league performance.

What's surprising is how long it took to start the process. Contrary to some of the rumours going around about the club approaching managers early on it *seems* like it's only started after Ross stepped down officially the other week.

That's the strangest part of it really given in his interview the guy never wanted to be the manager (sounds like Ling put him in an impossible situation) nor saw himself staying there long-term.

Upminster don't bite on what Byways says he's just a negative dickhead who works in Macdonalds, he finds fault with everything our club try to do.
A lot on here just wish he would F..k off & annoy others at another club.
