NO WAY!

We already have 40 applicants. This will make it more even complicated.

He has to be better than most of the other 40 though.

Has he had any connection before with Martin Ling ?
I think that the next manager will have either played for Orient in the past or someone that Ling trusts as a good bet based on previously working with them as a player, manager or coach.

Harris, like a number of people on the odds list, have good records. Also already managing (was) a London club so no relocation issues.

A decent name to add to the list. Not phased by numbers, the vast majority will be unsuitable for one reason or another and dealt with quickly. the real work for Ling will be going through the top ten contenders to get his shortlist.

He lives in Southend with his family - will almost certainly end up managing there I'd imagine, if he wants another job so quickly.

Interesting point Sid but I doubt Ling will only consider people he has had some connection with. To do so may ignore some really good candidates and that would be unforgivable and unprofessional.

Harris lives over Southend way so might want a shorter commute! Seriously though I have a lot of time for him but really can’t see him wanting to jump back into management at League Two level. He’s already second favourite for the Stoke City job at 5/2!

That's how the football system works when a manager "resigns"
Very true, except when he simply resigns.

Fans turned on Harris yesterday at Luton and he decided to resign today. Probably a sensible decision.

I would have Harris aswell, a good choice.
He could car share with Harold as he lives down the road to him.

Would definitely come into the reckoning for me. I'd be happy to let RE carrying for another week or 2 & let Harris have a short break to recharge his batteries if it meant getting him.

The Millwall fans forum don’t seem unhappy. Football not up to much. But think he’s too good for us.

No chance of coming here and not really bothered either. Graham Westley should be getting the role soon

How long has Harris been managing at Championship level? Why on earth would he drop down to League 2?

So he's only a bus ride away (positive), is a very good manager (also positive) BUT let us ask ourselves if a bloke who just missed out on reaching the Championship playoffs the season before last would consider joining a struggling L2 side. Go on, I'll give you a bit of time to think about it.

You say that, but the Hartlepool skipper Liam Noble has just left them to join a club several divisions below in Morpeth Town.

Harris is currently unemployed and if he needs a job, is unlikely to be head hunted by a Premiership side . If he needs a job he will go where the work is

Maybe because he's unemployed. ?

Wise. I went to the old den obviously years ago to watch Orient. What a frightening experience when you are wearing your colours. Their fans are gentle souls.

His No.2, Doug Livermore, went at the same time and so it looks like they may be looking towards a challenge as a double act in the future. I suspect that right now he's looking higher than either Southend or the O's and so he will let these opportunities pass him by if invited to apply. In Orient's case it would be complicated by Ross being a permanent fixture. Without question, his managerial credentials make him a good candidate for any League One or Two side, but I'd find it hard to imagine he resigned as a championship manager only to take up a league 1 or 2 position a couple of weeks later.

Would have him a heartbeat but no chance of him coming here. His record at Millwall was excellent considering he was polishing a turd in terms of the players they have had with him in charge. Millwall fans are a bit excitable.

Phil Parkinson would be far more interested in the Millwall job than ours.......
