What boxes must the new manager tick?

Post by Eat The Rich »

What are you presuppositions when it comes to the new manager?

Are untried and untested novices out? What about managers with no accolades to their name? If you were drawing up the criteria for the new manager ahead of the selection process what would be on your list?

For me I'd want
  • Some evidence of achievement/over-achievement. A promotion, dragging no-hopers to mid-table.etc
  • Evidence of being a strong leader. Discipline, values.etc
  • Someone with a detailed plan for the future.
  • Someone that believes in playing good, attacking football but also knows when to switch it up.
  • Someone that knows League One/League Two football.
  • Someone with a track record of integrity and professionalism.
I'm basically describing Justin Edinburgh, which is a painful realisation.

To be honest Phil Brown, although not my cup of Ale, did a decent job at Southend for 5 years and has vast experience and contacts.

Might not bother Sol.
But yes, I think money is tight as it always has been at BR.

A manager with Experience of L2 & L1 football for me is an absolute must, also success at that level is a bonus!

Must merit the approval of the Big Shots on this board.

Must accpet that there collective garnered knowledge for warching 90 minutes of football a week & a bit of fifa & once doing a season or 2 of Sunday league , will not be matched from 24/7 interaction with Football at a professional football club as a player, coach or manager.

Must favour 442 over 352/532 ( even if it has served Barcelona well for 20 years) .

Tick those boxes & whom ever it is will be welcomed
Until they p155 them off for playing Ling over Judd.
