Derby Players

Post by Thor »

Has anyone seen the whatsapp pictures and messages going around?

Keough is in proper trouble with him tearing his ACL in the crash. All failed drink and drug tests allegedly.

How stupid can some people get? Saying that they apparently drove off in the other car with keough trapped and unconscious and only got caught as they went back for him allegedly.

Sackings?

Drunk driving is never acceptable, but to me it seems even more unforgivable to do it when you have enough money to take taxis anywhere and everywhere.

Get him sacked and banged up. Drunk drivers are scum.

The club laid on cars to take the players home as well, which makes it even worse.

Keough at his age may well struggle to play again, the picture is bad, you can basically see his ligaments everything.

Derby County are absolutely up in arms over this and quite rightly so. What stupid idiots driving under the influence of alcohol when they had transport laid on to take them home.

Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett could be jailed as well.

2 were over the prescribed limit for alcohol for drivers.

As I understand it no one was drug tested let alone failed a drugs test.

So we have 2 drink drivers
1 not drink driving and
None of the 3 testing positive for drugs

If there are reports to back up your claim, Google does not produce them

True Spen, but the what’s app screen shots actually do as does the voice recording of the player describing what happened whose commentary is what’s in the press minus the drugs part, it’s a very popular soft drink. The press are hinting at drugs saying they were tested, maybe they need to test to come back as to what the drug is first? I don’t know how it works as I detest drugs and have never been stopped by the plod since drug testing came in to force.

Whichever one was drunk and behind the wheel should be behind bars.

The rest are idiots but, as passengers, not guilty.

I have seen the pictures, bar bill (Just a few drinks, Yikes), voicemail/radio commentary of witnesses. It's pretty incriminating. They came back to the crash to get Richard Keogh who was a passenger in one of the cars. Pretty much, career over for him with the injury and age factored in and I would say Lawrence and Bennetts careers are under threat too.

I agree, but sadly clubs don't sack players as it means m they lose right to a transfer fee for player(s). Money talks

It will be interesting to see the breath test readings of the players.

Also, if as suggested earlier the players failed drugs tests ( roadside screening ones), then lab results of drug tests at police station also awaited. I have been shown information that suggests this is indeed the case (not revealed in google search, but I now realise what earlier poster was referring to)

If positive, then custody must be a real risk for people driving under influence of drink AND drugs and causing serious injury

As far as I am aware, they have not been found guilty. Comments and speculation to the contrary are unhelpful to the case of the defence.

Dis whilst your right in that they are due a fair trial, surely if found guilty of drink and drugs then prison must be a real prospect? The fact that they left the scene of an accident and that someone was injured just makes the situation a whole lot worse for them i would imagine?

Not at all.

I have done nothing to prejudice them getting a fair trial.

It is always possible to talk about potential sentences even before people are convicted.

Hence why the Sentencing Council publish sentencing guidelines for cases .

Those convicted of drink driving AND drugged driving resulting in serious injury do face a real risk of a custodial sentence under those guidelines.

I have not said the Derby player ARE guilty Gor all I know they could have not been involved at all. That is irrelevant to what the likely sentence is for the offences I referred to.

Indeed.

Also sometimes it is best not to say anything at all. This is a singular point which appears beyond you.

Morons. luckily for them they didn't wipe out innocent people. One of my work colleagues was taken out by a hit and run drink driver. The drink driver got six years.Too much of a car culture in this country. The car is King.Even today I met with a car with who the driver had been influenced by his Fast and Furious box-set.Either that or drugs.Six years.Pathetic.

Plenty defending Keogh, and attacking the club on social media, it seems.

Guess the club's viewpoint is the player is no longer of use to them (at 34 and with an ACL), so why should they pay him £24k a week when the injury sustained is seen as wholly a by-product of his own stupidity.

Guess Derby probably offered him a drop to about £6k, which he turned down flat.

Staggered that such a humdrum Championship player appears to have been earning that sort of money for the last 7 years, in all honesty. No wonder DCFC are fuming.

He wasn't driving the car and the 2 people who caused the crashed are still employed. This is complete opportunism by Derby to get rid of a high earner. They were happy for him to stay if he took the cut. He could have slipped over on holiday around a pool and done the same injury, would they have sacked him then? Would they have asked him to take a pay cut?

As for Derby talking about bringing their club into disrepute, this is the same Derby that appointed Nigel Pearson after what caused him to be sacked from Leicester. The same Derby that backed their manager - Paul Jewell, when his sex tape from an affair was in the media. The same Derby they have potentially broken FFP rules due to their chairman buying their ground for £80m, ensuring a £14m profit. It's not the first time that club have had a wrongful dismissal case brought against them either. They gave John Gregory £1m to call it off.

I’m sure Spen will confirm but the club haven’t got a leg to stand on, they’re f*cked.
