Chris Powell has a good job at the FA so forget him.I'd love Parkinson but doubt he would come, also be has his own team around him and doubt he'd want to have our current coaching group.

Aye, let’s outlaw opinions and debate.UpminsterO wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 7:20 pmWise choice. But your words imply a negativeThor wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 2:02 pm Cotterill is a bit too old school in his methods and playing style so I wouldn't be over keen on him.
Nolan, he is friends with one of my mates, there is a lot I could say, but he would in all probability sue me for liable. After his behaviour when allegedly drunk at a club function and allegedly slaughtering the young players is not a good example to be setting. So it's a no from me.
I am surprised at some at the stuff written on this forum and often thought that the person that posts a damaging comment on anyone might one day find a solicitors letter if they were identified.
Nine Years ago I asked a USA lawyer about the Internet and how it worked with the comments people write.
He said the Internet it seems one can do whatever they want without any action and the place is a legal mess . The legal aspect may of changed nearly decade later
Are you a Tory MP by any chance?

That seems like an open invitation for Spen QC, Up.UpminsterO wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 7:30 pm No
Opinion and debate are excellent.
But think about some of the stuff written on here and other places these days and then think if that was said to that person in real time or written in a newspaper they would need to have it checked out first - lawyers are hovering around in real time desiring ways to extract their fees for their "services"
Spen do not reply please with your factual or subjective views - thanks

What new managerUpminsterO wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 7:36 pm Yes he take the bait like a fish on a hook and we all get a lecture on every subject in this world including driving north etc etc God help us.
See how a few words have an negative implication
Going forward I hope there is a change of attitude on here because sometimes the stuff written about the players character and performance -Ling / Albi / using these two atm are not very nice. There are so many other horrid things said about other players
Historically we had severe comments like a players legs have gone get rid of them and then some seasons later one sees their still playing at another club - higher up the football league - funny that how some boarders are totally useless themselves.
Then we have the Ling senior stuff too - so tiresome so rude re his performance character and relationship to his son team selection against Judd non selection
I'm just waiting for the new manager to be selected and then we will get a tirade of abuse from some
It all goes far beyond what would be described as opinions

Re: Kevin Nolan 7/4 favourite
People writing off Nolan should consider his win rate, not too bad even with us. And there is no reason why a second term at Orient under sane management could not turn out really well. Jobi is a prime example, Jobi, legend.

I think it is more to do with the way he behaved at a club function- that would make it inconceivable that he would be welcomed back to the club.

Re: Kevin Nolan 7/4 favourite
I appreciate that and agree, if reports of his behaviour are true, then it’s unlikely Ling would shortlist him, let alone the Board approve.
But maybe his alleged behaviour was a reflection of the club at that time. Maybe he has changed, matured, calmed down. Harsh to judge him on one drunken incident, better to judge him on the person he is now. Ling will know all this should he have a coffe with him. If Nolan orders an Irish coffee, not stinting on the whisky he will know.

Two others have implied is not evidence. And tbh I take stories of what happened at a drunken function with a deal of caution.UpminsterO wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 12:48 pmI don't think your interpretation is what the two others have implied or said on this thread Your post is your hypothesis only. Look the truth is out there and Lofc due diligence will either know it or desire to establish it not just with Nolan ( if there is anything to establish ) during the process.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 12:40 pmI appreciate that and agree, if reports of his behaviour are true, then it’s unlikely Ling would shortlist him, let alone the Board approve.

It really won't be any different to any of us going through a job application where they go through your cv with a razor blade of questions then seeking multiple references verbally and written
Having said that, I believe Ling will take a very conservative approach when compiling his shortlist and I would be surprised if the likes of Nolan, Holloway made the short list even if they were interested. We will get a steady, non-confrontational type of shortlist, happy to work alongside and cooperate with the current backroom team. Not a softy, but someone able to work with people in general and Ling in particular.

I think more importantly, there are several players and staff members who were there, and that simply makes his position untenable if he were to become manager.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 12:40 pmI appreciate that and agree, if reports of his behaviour are true, then it’s unlikely Ling would shortlist him, let alone the Board approve.

For sure. Ling will take that all into consideration. I’m not in a position to second guess what those at the club may say about him. For all I know they may have loved the guy and thought got treated badly. On the other hand they may think he’s a tossed. Like I say, I don’t know.Red_Army wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 1:15 pmI think more importantly, there are several players and staff members who were there, and that simply makes his position untenable if he were to become manager.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 12:40 pmI appreciate that and agree, if reports of his behaviour are true, then it’s unlikely Ling would shortlist him, let alone the Board approve.

He’s an unlikely new manager, agree with that. There are others I would choose ahead of him, not because of how bad he may have been but because others are just better.

But you don't need to guess. You should know exactly what people at the club think of him, it is well documented.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 4:32 pmFor sure. Re: Kevin Nolan 7/4 favourite
I’m sure your right Red Army. It’s just that I don’t always take what I read, gossip wise, as the whole truth. Sometimes people can exaggerate, stories get a little better every time they’re told stuff. From memory, whilst he was training with us pre-manager time he was very popular and great helping some of our players. So who knows, I don’t.Red_Army wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 5:07 pmBut you don't need to guess. That’s why, in his case, I trust Ling to take all of this stuff into consideration and if satisfied, make a judgement. I’m sure it will be the right one.

These allegations about Nolan at the function should be taken with a grain of salt. I bumped into him at Epsom last year and asked him. He said he couldn’t remember anything about it.
That is good enough for me - clearly didn’t happen then.

HITC Sport understands Martin Allen, Graham Westley and Daryl McMahon are contenders for the Leyton Orient job.

All sorts of names will be identified as contenders for the job. Everybody will be guessing, even the bookies who will throw up all sorts of stuff just to make a bob or two. But all this speculation is fun.
