Agreed . It would make a mockery of them and be unfair on previous clubs who had to go through the same situation

You are right. They need to start again in a lower tier like AFC Wimbledon or Max’s mates at Sevco Utd.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 7:28 pmAgreed . It would make a mockery of them and be unfair on previous clubs who had to go through the same situation

Re: Bury Fc
It’s a terrible shame what happened to Bury, but they should have to start at the point where the laws say they should. The league should not give them any special dispensation. The owner is still the same person so nothing has changed there, if they are re admitted it makes a mockery of the competition.

The article presents the below options that clubs can vote for. The middle one was previously incorrect but now has been corrected.
1) To remain at 71 members
2) To return to 72 members, with the club finishing second bottom in League Two receiving a reprieve, and two clubs promoted from the National League
3) Or, to return to 72 members with either the runner-up in the National League also promoted - or with another club added, eg Bury
Did the League (as opposed to other less official sources) announce that only one team would go down from L2 before the transfer deadline? I can imagine that some clubs changed their last minute transfer plans based on one team going down, especially if it was based on an announcement from the league.

Re: Bury Fc
It is a tough call but I make you right. Gutted for Bury fans, we know only too well as it was a close run thing for us. But it would be a very dangerous precedent.

Dont see the harm in them starting in League Two next year. It would just be as if they have forfeited all of this seasons games.

Re: Bury Fc
So any club who gets into major financial issues etc can expect to start again in L2. And if that team is already in L2 then they get a free ride.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 12:46 pm Dont see the harm in them starting in League Two next year. And what happens to their debts?

Re: Bury Fc
They must start at the bottom, otherwise what's to stop a club going for broke to make it to the premier league, run up massive debts which can't be serviced and the go in to a cva, don't close out the cva and don't play your fixtures. Then wipe your debts out, start again and be in league 1 or 2.
Unworkable and crazy to allow this to happen. There has to be a punishment and or deterrent.

Re: Bury Fc
No idea what’s happening with their debts, but it was debts that caused the problem. The point being that to simply put them in L2 ignores debts being created and without real penalty. Leaves others free to do the same and when it goes tits up they just start again in L2.Prestige Worldwide wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 1:37 pmrelegate them 2 divisions then. I don’t think allowing them to start again in L2 will do much to stop others racking up debts in an attempt to make it to the top if the worse that can happen is demotion to L2

Not because of Orient but option 2 would be the most fairest

Bury definitely not coming back to L2 and just one relegation spot confirmed.
A proposal for Bury to be readmitted to League Two next season was rejected by the English Football League's 71 member clubs at a meeting on Thursday.
Bury, who were in League One, were expelled from the EFL in August after a last-ditch takeover bid collapsed.
Earlier this week, a group trying to rescue Bury submitted a plan for "compassionate re-entry" to League Two.
However, an EFL statement said "it became clear that the proposal did not have the necessary support".
It added that EFL clubs' "preferred direction of travel" was "extending the existing principle of a reduction in relegation across all divisions as a means of returning to 72 clubs now and for the future".
It means only one team will go down from League Two this campaign, rather than two.

Ok, all I ask from Orient this season is please don’t finish bottom. Consolidation this season and then try and get promotion next year

Re: Bury Fc
Amen to that. This season is one of consolidation and the chance to move on a few players who we don’t want and replace with upgrades.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 4:09 pm Ok, all I ask from Orient this season is please don’t finish bottom. I sincerely hope we consolidate comfortably around mid table. I don’t want a season looking down to see how far we are from the drop.
I’ll settle for a boring mid-table season. Though it’s tremendously sad that the demise of Bury should create this situation. I wouldn’t wish that on them.
