Re: Should Boris resign?
How did the supreme court know what he was thinking? I think he did it over Brexit but I can't prove it.
Anyway can we just leave the EU and get on with our lives and supporting the O's?

Feels like the country is at a really dangerous moment. The bloke will do and say anything, and there will be millions who think it's fine.
You can't bend and bend something to get what you want, and hope it snaps back into shape afterwards. It'll just break.

Re: Should Boris resign?
I liked the labour bird screeching at Johnson to tone down the rhetoric while ratcheting up the rhetoric another two notches.

One of her colleagues was murdered by a right wing terrorist, she's getting death threats all the time from similar types. Think most people would be fraught.

We’re on the same path as the USA, just a few years behind, and they haven’t snapped yet.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 10:06 pm

The Supreme Court did not make a finding that he lied to the Queen.

The Supreme Court said that they have no proof he lied to the queen so why you keep on purporting that line is beyond me.Disoriented wrote: ↑Wed Sep 25, 2019 6:14 pmYou seem to be a bigger idiot than I thought. Re: Should Boris resign?
Spen is right.
The Supreme Court concluded that the Government acted Unlawfully, that is, there was no basis in law for the path it took.
No Illegal activity took place because no current law was broken.
It all comes down to conclusions based on interpretations of an unwritten constitution AND assumptions of what was actually said when Mr Johnson telephoned Her Majesty and when Mr Rees-Mogg subsequently attended Balmoral. Remember no witness statements are available and never should be.

Re: Should Boris resign?
Under normal circumstances a PM doing something illegal would be a resigning matter. But put alongside parliament’s failure to keep its commitment to the electorate to deliver on the result of the referendum, it’s just yet another failure which brings parliament even more into disrepute. Collectively they have been a disgrace.
So an election rather than a resignation is needed, for this Commons has to be removed and a new one elected, the people’s judgement is needed.

Except of course when your name is Blair and you kill thousands upon thousand of innocent lies based on documents that you had sexed up to for your agenda. That's ok though.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 10:50 amAbsolutely this .EastDerehamO wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 7:51 am Under normal circumstances a PM doing something illegal would be a resigning matter. Re: Should Boris resign?
IMO a No Deal Brexit has to remain as an option. The alternatives are a negotiated exit or remain.
Remain - the remoaners win and democracy in the eyes of the public will be finished.
Negotiated exit - the EU are going to try and screw us over and get the best deal for them. Without the option of walking away without a deal we are fighting with our hand tied behind our backs.
It might well be that no deal is the best option.
Shoot me down.

This post hints at something i have suspected for a while, namely that many Leavers/Brexiteers, want Brexit, just to annoy and infuriate Remainers, and " get one over them", because Brexit makes the country and everyone in it less well offOrnchurch wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 11:41 am IMO a No Deal Brexit has to remain as an option. I just think that in any negotiation there has to be an option to walk away if you do not get a deal that you are happy with.

Batter in with those options by splitting the Brexit vote Remain is sure to win. Are you Dominic Cummings?Ornchurch wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 11:41 am IMO a No Deal Brexit has to remain as an option. The alternatives are a negotiated exit or remain.

Re: Should Boris resign?
Single Transferable Vote.
1. Do you want to Remain or Leave the EU?
2. If Remain wins majority - end of process
3. If Leave wins majority - go to 4.
4. Do you want to Leave the EU with a Deal (must be explained) or No Deal (must also be explained).
5. Whatever the outcome of 4, do it.
This is how the referendum should have been run to begin with. It would have avoided this mess. Only now it will be perceived as a betrayal by Leavers. Funnily enough, I think Boris could actually just about get away with delivering this option and surviving it.

You're past caring? Really? It may be just about the most significant political decision in your lifetime.Ornchurch wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 11:49 amI am past caring whether we leave or stay.ComeOnYouOs wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 11:46 amThis post hints at something i have suspected for a while, namely that many Leavers/Brexiteers, want Brexit, just to annoy and infuriate Remainers, and " get one over them", because Brexit makes the country and everyone in it less well offOrnchurch wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2019 11:41 am IMO a No Deal Brexit has to remain as an option. I just think that in any negotiation there has to be an option to walk away if you do not get a deal that you are happy with.
Let's say we do leave without a deal - it's going to have a profound effect on almost everyone on a daily basis - and even if you don't care what happens to you personally, it's going to effect your friends, family and young people in particular.
The price of almost everything will increase because the costs of doing business will increase, and we rely so heavily on imports. Your pensions and investments will take a hit along with the £. Going abroad will become a lot more expensive and you'd better not be planning on getting ill or taking your pet with you. Food and medicines will likely be held up in transit. The list goes on and on - and for what?
Do you think if we leave in October that will be the end of it, because it will only be the beginning, and if you're past caring now, you're going to be in a right state in a few years time, when we're begging for crumbs from the EU's table.
