Bit unnecessary, don't you think?

He's handled a delicate situation with dignity.
Agreed but he was a hostage to fortune caused by poor decision making by the owners.

As regards to his replacement I would love to see the club try and get Gareth Ainsworth. I know he’s managing in a higher league, but I’m sure we could come up with a financial package which could tempt him. I’m sure he would get instant respect from players and staff at the club.
I reckon AFC Fylde's fans are getting very nervous right now.

Come on down, Dave C!
Good shout.

No. It’s a good thing that he’s stepping down.

I agree it's a good thing. It's absolutely the right thing.

No need for that sort of response though, IMO.

I think we should go for Graham Westley. He is a medal winner.

A smart move by Ross. It gets people off his back and lets him get on with (a) coaching - which is his thing whilst (b) managing the side through the next few games without feeling the burdens that come with the job.

Well done Ross. He stood forward when the team needed it due to the tragic circumstances. It was not an easy thing to do. Good to see that he will still be involved with the first team to help smooth in a transition. We have to remember that this team were not playing great football against mostly part time teams in the league especially towards the end of last season. They got the job done and we are forever grateful to get out of that league. It's been a step up and pre season was always going to be an issue. Ross made many mistakes with team formation, selection and substitutions but it's a huge learning curve. I hope he has a big part to play with stabilising the club over the years ahead. This year was always going to be about staying up. With one team going down, I am confident that we will have more than enough.

He has done the honourable thing, shame he didn’t do it weeks ago when it was obvious he was well out of his depth.

More like a number of the players are out of their depth in L2, especially defenders

"Thinks" - how can I turn a positive action into a negative? I know, I'll say he should have done it weeks ago........

Jeez, you're a miserable specimen.

I think this is abit of tongue and cheek. "My kids don't call me Dad, they call me medal winner".

This would be a terrible decision to go with Westley. Hoofball football. Eventually, even Stevenage got sense and got rid. If Newport had of kept him, they would have been doomed to relegation. Please to the powers that be, stay well clear of Westley, or anybody like him, he would be a disaster and the club would be torn apart.

We didn't want him when JE was appointed, why should we want him now? His last job was at Barnet and ended up a disaster.

We are 5 points above the drop zone, whereas Fylde are only 2 points above theirs. They're probably worrying about other things right now.

He is a decent man but I make the point yet again.

The owners put him in an impossible position by time limiting his job. Appointing him as interim manager was completely the wrong decision. They should have appointed an experienced manager to lead the club in a crucially important season.

The word 'Interim' was an albatross around his neck, that's for sure. Still, some of our fans need to look at themselves and their conduct.

Yeah, Ross has stepped down cos of a few people’s comments on an Internet forum that he’s probably not cut out for the job, based on results and performances in the first quarter of the season.

The behaviour of some fans was a disgrace but these same fans are a permanent embarrassment. They behave like hormone driven obsessive adolescents at most games.

I recall years ago away at Cheltenham a geezer behind me was berating almost everything the team was doing within the first ten minutes. He got all aggressive when I asked him to pack it in because his bs was not helping the team.
