To the owners

Post by PoundhillO »

Just advertise the Managers job immediately before it is too late.
The current situation is an embarrassment to the club and the fans .
It has been quite clear from the beginning of the season that Embleton is so far out of his depth.
In my mind it is disrespectful to Justin and all he achieved to continue to have an Interim Manager that is dragging the club closer to the relegation zone already.

Ross is here for a while yet. He will get plenty of time and a decent run against not-at-the-top sides. Though to be honest most teams are above us now.

We have a full back who gets every chance because he is the DoF’s son and a manager who will get every chance because he is the DoF’s mate.

Well we are a family club after all.

All I'll say is they're gambling with the entire future of the club right now. Relegation will finish it as we've seen the finances don't add up for LOFC as a non-league side.

Spend whatever it takes to ensure we survive this year, it's been too hard fought to let slip away on sentiment.

I find it quite disgusting that people are bringing Justin into this, tbh. As if the management, players and owners should somehow feel more guilty at losing games because our manager tragically died.

Totally agree with what Snowflake said about people like Poundhill who bring Edinburgh into it.

I’m not sure we need to spend any money as I believe the squad is more than good enough, they just need organising, structure and proper instructions and know “I’m the boss” you don’t need money to do any of that, just proper leadership.

Swindon, Crewe and Exeter are 3 of the better teams in this league, I didn’t see too much difference between the teams apart from what I’ve said repeatedly on other threads. The players are good enough.

Need to address last season's squad shortcomings that are still unresolved. Yes Justin managed to win the league in spite of them but the weaknesses are being brutally exposed at a higher level...

CM - until we get a Dawson / Vincelot or two in we're limited to either having to play 5 in midfield or doomed to lose the battle every game. We let 2 CMs go in summer and only signed one. A Spurs youth player is not the answer to that.

ST - Alabi in your main 4 strikers is ridiculous at this level, no options on the bench to change a game or indeed cover injury as we're now seeing with Angol out. Quality required here after letting 35+ goals walk out the door over summer. Yes they were always going to leave but not enough has come in to replace.

GK - Brill has been great for us but is struggling and looks to have been rushed back from injury over summer a bit too soon. Sargeant doesn't seem to be trusted at the club to be a realistic alternative so bring in another senior pro to compete with Brill and ultimately replace him as he's not getting any younger.

You could also make cases for a proven L2 CB to swap with Coulson, who also doesn't look quite himself and an LB to keep Widdowson on his toes (given complete unwillingness to try Ogie or Sweeney in the league)

One area we're in theory strong in is wingers yet it seems they're all being played as attacking midfielders rather than wide men. That one does seem to be a management / coaching thing - final ball needs to be so much better.

Bear in mind there's another bunch of players out of contract in summer and the January window becomes not only a way to bail us out of trouble but the start of a wider rebuild for next season.

I am 99% certain that Teague, Travis and possibly Ling have been sounding out potential managers since the start of the season. Ross Embleton has been the interim head coach and is doing the best he can. I don't know how much longer he will be in that role, but I hope with a slightly easier run of games coming up he can get a win or two, especially at home.

I agree so sit back and watch us hit bottom spot shortly. I agree with the OP to a degree. . I understand completely why the club appointed RE, but it's now clearly time for a change of manager.

Shouldn’t there be more time given to enable a viable plan to be put in place, just like a Brexit extension?

Brill is such a mixed player. The 2nd goal yesterday he didn’t even move, and it ended up in the net 2 yards from him. Feel like he thought it was going wide but ended up going in. Sarge is a lot more athletic than brill and tbh, were shi*t atm so what harm is there in swapping them. Even give sweeney and ogie a chance as what’s to lose if we’re losing anyway?

You're forgetting we don't have a proper manager in yet to start that rebuilding and on current evidence we won't have for some time.

That's why I'm acutely aware of the timing and why a decision needs to be made within next few weeks tops. If we are to change to a permanent appointed manager they need at least a month with the squad before the window opens. If that process takes a few weeks to put in place then owners need to decide by mid October at the latest imo.

You lack a sense of humour these days. Is it through your frustration with being lied to by Johnson, Gove et al who promised Brexit would be easy, or your impatience in not giving Ross a chance to settle?

I wish people would stop bringing up JE. We all know how tragic and unfair it was for many reasons. We are all gutted.

The issue is how we as a club deal with it and in my opinion the answer is badly. The soft option was taken and I don’t think it was fair on Ross to put him in a position he was not ready for. I have sympathy for the guy thrown in the deep end when the club should have had the courage to seek out an experienced manager able to take over the team and cope with the emotions. As difficult as that would have been.

As a consequence we risk ruining the very thing Justin worked hard to achieve. Our future. The positivity, good feelings, dare I say the love that existed around the club. The JE legacy. Being eroded by the week. I feel for Ross who comes across as little boy lost, out of his depth and thrown to the wolves by Ling. The road to hell paved with good intentions.

Ross has done the very best he can but the results are a disjointed team, bad feelings amongst many fans and if rumours true to odd negative comments from Ling Snr and Brill.

Sure in time he may get it together, he may also get us relegated. The club are playing a dangerous game and Ross is at the sharp end. I hope for his sake the team put together some decent results, I’m sure he could do with a decent nights worry free nights. And us fans can stop looking at the bottom and worry about NL football looming.
