Re: Colchester (A) - Exiles Thread
Our replacements, Angol especially, are adequate replacements for players we had no choice in keeping. Get over it. Alabi was with us last season too.
Very little to do with the new players. Everything to do with having a manager unable to get the best out of what he has. Our defending has been shocking, pretty much the same group as last season. Sure the step up makes a difference but our defence looks a complete shambles. Gone from good to bad. The players ain’t become crap all of a sudden. The issue is not the players.

That storming recovery may well be on.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 3:38 pm The JE legacy being p*ssed away. Just hoping there is one team worse than us.
But I expect the same old poo poo gets rolled, playing too inform teams, not getting the breaks, learning from each game etc.
Wrong choice from day 1.
Still, I expect 2-2 draw now after a storming recovery.

Re: Colchester (A) - Exiles Thread
Been awful first half we have not put them under any pressure when they have the ball they can pick a pass at leisure.
Gifted a goal before the break we are lucky to still be in it our full backs have been poor and we refuse to pass forward if we can go sideways or back.
A tactical shambles so far.

Agreed and that's why we need a new experienced manager.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 3:50 pmOur replacements, Angol especially, are adequate replacements for players we had no choice in keeping. Get over it. Alabi was with us last season too.

The Os fans here today have been very patient but another 45 mins like that and I imagine Ross is going to get pellets at the end.
Let’s see what he comes up with second half

Personally I feel the additions of Angol, Wilkinson and Dennis as really good signings up front. Wringht too is Ok in the middle. The club has done well in replacing Bonne and Koroma. As well as could be reasonably expected. Alabi is on a 2 year deal so we are stuck with him. If we can’t shift him, may as well see what he can add.RoryRocks wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 3:52 pmI agree the defence and goalkeeping has been a shambles this year.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 3:50 pmOur replacements, Angol especially, are adequate replacements for players we had no choice in keeping. So knocking the club over the loss of Bonne and Koroma is Bolox.
The defence had not really been strengthened and based on last season it’s easy to see why. A tight fisted defence who worked well as a group. Decent individuals but made stronger by the way they worked together. And it’s that togetherness that’s gone to pot. All of a sudden they have become a clueless bunch of individuals and not a coherent team.
That needs fixing but I doubt Ross has the ability to do that. We will continue to ship goals and listen to the “we need to get better” crap we hear all the time.

Also Martin Ling had a sly dig I think on Twitter this week but deleted his tweet.
Just don't think Ross' strength is defending. Seems that 2-1 flatters us a bit, the best we can hope for is if they sit back a bit like Mansfield and we can go for it.
Fear the counter attack, Colchester picked off Swindon with two late goals on the break and aside from Marv we have no pace at the back.

Re: Colchester (A) - Exiles Thread
You are talking crap. Give me the evidence that Wilkinson is an adequate replacement to Bonne. Angol has been ok but Koroma was on fire for large parts of last season. Wright has been rubbish and was pelted by fans at previous clubs. You pigeon hole your anger at Ross if you want. We have gone up a division and have a weaker team. What management allow that to happen.dOh Nut wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 4:06 pmPersonally I feel the additions of Angol, Wilkinson and Dennis as really good signings up front. I think it is a mixture of both , total under investment and a very inexperienced person put into Manage, a recipe for disaster!

Grainger > n/a
Lee > Wright
Lawless > n/a, Marsh (loan) if being generous
Simpson > Dennis
Koroma > Angol
Bonne > Wilkinson
So in simple numbers the squad has *not* been strengthened. In fact it's weaker as we've replaced two senior pro CMs with one plus a loan youth player.
Last season we were crying out for CM cover and but for JE's nous, players putting their bodies on the line and sheer will to win it would've cost us. Now why do I mention that? Because that same playing through pain barrier and injuries has paid back with the likes of McAnuff and Turley struggling this season.
Similarly Dayton's situation has meant Dennis is effectively the replacement for him, meaning the Simpson slot is unfilled. You see the effects of that on the bench today. One injury to Angol and all we have are a 35 year old and Alabi, enough said there.
Keeper-wise there seems to be little faith in Sargeant as even when Brill has bad games he's basically undroppable. Should've brought another pro keeper in to provide cover / competition for him.
Come January window we need to bring in a striker, CM or two plus cover for whoever leaves (if I were a betting man I'd put that on Ekpiteta for a nominal fee)

It was JE who managed to galvanise our defence . Ross can't do that .dOh Nut wrote: ↑Sat Sep 21, 2019 4:06 pmPersonally I feel the additions of Angol, Wilkinson and Dennis as really good signings up front. Wringht too is Ok in the middle. Gotta start thinking of changes soon...
This game is made for James Alabi to hit a late equaliser.
