Re: Lineup for today
The theory goes that if you put too many defenders on, you just get deeper and deeper and the other side know you can't hurt them. With a fresh forward on, they have to be more careful..... goes the theory.

Re: Lineup for today
Taking both jmd and Dennis off caused issues, as both can run with the ball up the pitch, win a soft free kick And relieve the pressure,

Why have Alibi in the squad let alone play him, what hold has Alabi got over the club I wonder.BoniO wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 4:58 pmI'm not. Yes, I'm happy with that . A draw away to the league leaders is a good result and another point towards our league safety.

Re: Lineup for today
Probably to save him from picking up a yellow and getting banned. He was involved for both goals.
I would have put Ogie on for third sub.
Great point overall. We would have settled for that before the game.
6 booked today.

Even one of the bigshots on here would probably be able to keep us up this season.Something would be horrendously wrong if we finish bottom.RedDwarf 1881 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 5:03 pmYes, I'm happy with that . Re: Lineup for today
Who cares if he picks up a yellow .
Id rather 3 points & clay nowhere near the
pitch at the moment.
The blokes bad karma is destroying us.
He needs to get his feng shui sh*t sorted out !!

Re: Lineup for today
I would have taken a point before the start, but it feels like 2 points lost now.
I haven't seen whether Alabi did anything in his cameo, but I have my suspicions that we effectively were down to 10 for the last 5 mins + extra time.

Re: Lineup for today
Turns out it was NOT madness to leave Clay on the bench and the much derided ( because of his short stature ) Marsh seems to have played well. I did write on this forum when he first signed to give the lad a chance and recalled many midfield players of the past who were short but very good...........but few listened to me !Disoriented wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 2:37 pmClay on the bench is madness.BiggsyMalone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 2:20 pm Clay on the bench. Ling has paid his subs for the next month to guarantee his starting place then.

I pray I don't have to refer back to this post come the end of the season.

Re: Lineup for today
Strange game. On the balance of it they created much more than us and were the better side, both our goals had a touch of fortune.
In the end it's disappointing to not hold out.
Decent to get Swindon out of the system though, must follow it up with something against Crewe. The worry is we are conceding too many goals.

Re: Lineup for today
I don't understand why he's getting the minutes over Harrold. Ross would've seen how well the latter did at holding the ball up and seeing our the last 10-15 mins of games last season. He's got the nous to draw niggly fouls, strength to hold off tiring defenders and just generally run the clock down.PoundhillO wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 5:02 pmWhy have Alibi in the squad let alone play him, what hold has Alabi got over the club I wonder.BoniO wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2019 4:58 pmI'm not. I would have snapped your arm off before the game for a draw. I would be happy enough if it finishes 2-2.
In comparison neither Wilkinson nor Alabi make the ball "stick" so it keeps coming back. Thin squad cost us a win today imo.
Positives - Ross learnt from the keyboard managers, changed the formation and brought Marsh in with the predicted positive effect
Negatives - Ross doesn't know how to see out a game and his Alabi obsession continues, with predicable results
Go with the same lineup on Tuesday, bit more attacking mindset being at home and I think we can get a result. Sotiriou in for Alabi on the bench and hopefully Brophy back.q

Re: Lineup for today
The problem was taking JMD and Dennis off you needed to bring on two more wingers, no wingers on the bench so Alabai and Wilkinson are more mobile I think
Could've done worse than Ogie or someone at Left wing for ten minutes i think, reasonable speed, can defend, needs must
