Was that when he was at Tranmere in the mid 80's? Could hardly run, bur ripped us apart.

Yes he was player/manager of Tranmere scored against us on the opening game of the
season half volley on the turn ( pure class) to put Rovers 1 up, O's won 3-1...

I remember Harry Maguire having a cracking game against us in a 1-1 draw with Sheffield United 5-6 years ago, you could tell there was a real player in there.

Probably not the best display I’ve ever seen by an opponent but he was class that day and little did I know he’s go onto become the worlds most expensive defender

Along with Grant Holt? That game?
What a duo they were - tore us TWO new ones that day.
I'll go along with that with that. They were both outstanding at our level. Then both went on to play in the Premier League.

I remember Lambert scoring 2 class goals a few years later for Southampton after we led 2-0. Loved to get a goal against us, but then again he scored against most teams! Great player.

He was magnificent that day - The whole ground applauded him off when subbed.
Apparently he wrote a note of thanks to the club. Top class

Not really in keeping with the thread title but can you imagine playing for Real Madrid and getting a standing ovation at the Camp Nou from the Barcelona fans after defeating their side?
This actually happened to the man whose statue is in Coronation Gardens. Tell your children to tell their children.
