Lock Him Up!

Post by Clive Evans »

Scottish appeal judges rule in Court That Bojo lied to the Queen in proroguing Parliament. As this was in such a serious matter of State, sounds to me like High Treason. Is hanging, drawing & quartering still on the statute books?

Shame for you the Scottish courts didn't rule as you allege.

Far too tough. Hanging is enough.

England and Wales courts disagree with the Scots - wonder why? 2-1 up and now into extra time at the Supreme Court. Either way, we will be free on Nov 1st

The lies were pretty obvious from the start and one of the judges remarked on it. The actual ruling is more important as it makes the suspension of parliament unlawful. I fully expect the Supreme Court to uphold this ruling.

I don't think Her Majestyn was lied to, she would have signed off on anything her government handed her without reason or question, remember the last monarch who went against this ended up nine inches shorter.

Lying to the voting public is another matter. The courts have already decided that in political campaigning you can come out with cartloads of B******T without any problem at all. Lying to parliament is also not now seen as much of a problem as it was in the past. (Westland report et al) I will leave it to Spen to define what constitutes treason, but I can't see anything in this whole sorry mess that it could be applied to.

Exactly. Funny how suddenly some on this board think Scottish Law more important than English or Welsh.
Fact is apart from London, the SE of England and Scotland the rest of the the uk voted to leave the EU. Overall the majority who voted to leave was over 1,400,000.
That is democracy not the desperate despicable acts of an opposition aided and abetted by a very biased, uncouth, cocky, arrogant Speaker who has suddenly realised he will lose his seat at the next General Election as can’t stand as a Conservative because he’ll be deselected and the Conservative majority in his constituency is over 20,000

Apparently Farage is according to Downing St " not a fit and proper person to be in government"
They should know, plenty of experience with that particular trait

Irrespective of what version of events you believe to be true in the whole Brexit saga, I struggle to see any offence of treason by anyone.

The nearest I can see is under the Treason Act 1351 which had an offence as follows

"adhering to the sovereign's enemies, giving them aid and comfort, in the realm or elsewhere"

It is really not credible to say the EU are the sovereigns enemies.

All this talk of treason doesn't help the issues. To disagree with others is not treason

Yes there was a majority, yes we should leave but everyone, including MPs, have the right to criticise how it is being done without being subject to constant abuse.

Wrong. The Scottish decision was made at Appeal Court level but the English decision was made at 1st instance level. The Scottish decision being the higher court prevails.

Why is Spen not pointing this out? Lazy sod.

Iam not sure you are correct.

The Scottish Appellate Court is not a higher court than the English High Court because they are separate legal systems and these respective courts only have authority within their jurisdictions.

The Supreme Court is different as its jurisdiction covers the United Kingdom (and when sitting as Privvy Council, much of the former Commonwealth)

Of course it does. Where did I say it didn't. As matters currently stand the decision is unlawful unless the SC rules otherwise.

It was produced as evidence during the hearing and one of the judges remarked on it. I'm sure it will feature in the written decision when it's issued.
