On train back from 100 Club on Oxford Street , watched Spear of Destiny. They were good, if a bit old like me and the rest of the audience

Seymour
On A Friday
The Quarry Men
The Obelisk
Sweet Children
The Young Aborigines
All of the above were underrated at the time, and showed promise to go onto bigger and better things. If only.

Re: Underrated bands…
That would be quite a good music quiz question, I had to look up On a Friday and Sweet Children.
P.S. Doesnt underrated mean lack of critical acclaim as well as not hugely successful? Husker Du, Gang of Four and Echo and the Bunnymen should all be excluded, all of them regularly gushed over by music journos. I'll say Leatherface even though they get an occasional 'best band ever' by the writers who want to be slightly cooler than the ones that say Husker Du.

Ride.
Often dismissed as a 90s shoegaze band, they stilled churned out some records that have stood the test of time. However, their more recent albums (This Is Not A Safe Place & Interplay) have been better than anything they or their contemporaries put out in the so-called 90s peak.
