Jordan Brown
Have we ever had a more underappreciated player?
Think he’s been our most consistent player this season. Was brilliant again yesterday. Never stops running. Opposing teams must hate him as he stops so many of their attacking moves. Yet, because he doesn’t score much and plays the occasional poor pass, he goes pretty much unnoticed. There’s a reason why RW never drops him.

Definitely under appreciated but it was a tale of two half’s for his yday. Struggled first half and then won a load of tackles and kept the ball moving second. Still does a few too many aimless balls forward but he’s a key cog in our system

Re: Jordan Brown
Clare’s been poo poo last few games tbf but prats has played a lot and coming back from injury against a decent midfield, he looked well off it. Clare will start Monday

Re: Jordan Brown
Clare’s introduction changed the game yesterday, it meant we were able to get on the front foot and win tackles and press higher up the pitch.
Barnsley could not live with the speed and precision of our passing in attack in that 20min period 2nd half, where we blew them apart.

Re: Jordan Brown
A bit unfair on Pratley and over generous to Clare as I think the half time reset from the management team was far more key. Everybody was up for it in the second half whereas they'd all been a bit suppressed by Barnsley in the first. The change was needed in fairness, if for no other reason than something had to be changed.Stan1972 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 11:00 am Clare’s introduction changed the game yesterday, it meant we were able to get on the front foot and win tackles and press higher up the pitch.

Re: Jordan Brown
Never understood the love in for this player, without a physical presence alongside he gets overrun. People saying Pratley coming off changed the game but never mind be was having to cover Brown missing tackles all first half. Whether it's Clare alongside or someone else next season that midfield area needs reinforcement.

Re: Jordan Brown
But has to bring Pratley and then Clare in to support after midfield was struggling early in the season. Also signed Ball to shore things up though he's not made a huge impact, be interesting whether he gets kept on at end of season.Lifelongfan wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 12:03 pmYou seem to be in the minority. You’re totally wrong. Brown has developed into a very good L1 6.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 12:00 pm Never understood the love in for this player, without a physical presence alongside he gets overrun. Re: Jordan Brown
Isn't that all partnerships work? You have players who complement each others strengths and cover for their weaknesses. Brown has really solid this season, second most appearances of any player and is vital to how we play.gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 12:00 pm Never understood the love in for this player, without a physical presence alongside he gets overrun. Pratley has looked increasingly off it as season has gone on, which is no surprise given his age. We'll need two new central midfielders in the summer.

Always having a pop at someone or the club in general Is Jordan your latest target?gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 12:00 pm Never understood the love in for this player, without a physical presence alongside he gets overrun. You told me last year that you were not really an O's fan just a general football fan but you still continue posting regular derogatory remarks about O's players and club.

Yeah, let’s play one CM to really see how good Brown is. Pathetic he needs someone alongside himgshaw wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 12:07 pmBut has to bring Pratley and then Clare in to support after midfield was struggling early in the season. Unsung hero - runs around all game giving his 100% fighting for the badge. He is exactly the sort of player and character we wsnt around. His development since he's come here has been immense. General supporter chat viewpoint, much in the same way as Richie was talking about the negativity around Kelman coming back. Nor a specific person, just a general gist.Top of the JES wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 2:43 pmAlways having a pop at someone or the club in general Is Jordan your latest target?gshaw wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 12:00 pm Never understood the love in for this player, without a physical presence alongside he gets overrun. On your second point, you're a bit off with the quote. I said that I don't class myself as a "Leyton Orient supporter" rather a football fan whose team is Orient. That means I don't do the happy clappy thing where everything Orient must always be sunshine, rainbows and optimism.
As for the regular derogatory remarks, it goes with the above that I'll criticise when I want but also praise too. When Kelman came back I was in a minority welcoming him and happy to seen his return. In January I praised Ling for his work, having been very critical of the previous Jan window. So for you to say "always" isn't accurate.
Coming back to the original subject I like to see dynamic all action CMs in the bracket of Dawson, Vincelot, Adams, El Miz. I wouldn't put Brown in that same bracket, maybe some of you might and you're entitled to that opinion.

Dawson and Vincelot are already of a bygone era , the ancient days of 4-4-2.
I would have both El Miz and Ebou ahead of Brown currently, but only just and the way he keeps on progressing he may surpass them.

I think either of those would boss the CDM role if placed in a modern day team, if anything would be even better given they wouldn't have to get up and down the pitch as much.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 1:25 pm Dawson and Vincelot are already of a bygone era , the ancient days of 4-4-2.

Re: Jordan Brown
Each one of those apart from El Miz was partnered by someone who was a decent passer. Spring, James and McAnuff. Brown isn't amazing on the ball but spreads play quicky and is able to retain possession. The ball winner/b2b player in this set up is Pratley or Ball.gshaw wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 12:29 pmGeneral supporter chat viewpoint, much in the same way as Richie was talking about the negativity around Kelman coming back. Re: Jordan Brown
To be fair the whole team struggled in the first half not just Jordan . Jordan is a good and dependable midfielder who's worth his place in the team . Richie gets the best out of him and has made him a better player .Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Sat Apr 19, 2025 8:09 am Definitely under appreciated but it was a tale of two half’s for his yday. Re: Jordan Brown
Absolutely pivotal to our comeback today. Dropped into a back 3 and controlled the ball for us, bringing it out and pinging passes
