Re: US-based consortium close to £18m takeover
Impossible to tell how new owners will be until they are in post. Carlisle's Yank owners have basically said all the right things since taking over and ploughed money into the club, and they are on the verge of falling out the football league.
The current ownership may not have the deepest pockets but have proven generally very good for the club, so there's a definite nervousness about the unknown here, which Travers sticking around might offset a little.
Again, the most important thing is that the club gets a new ground which is fully owned by us and raises our potential earning power. How we do in the league will always fluctuate but is ultimately a short term problem.

well if it is to be a multi-sports stadium, then it seems very likely that Leyton/London Orient would only be tenants there, and the fantastic multimedia sports and entertainment holding company would be the owners.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 2:18 pm Again, the most important thing is that the club gets a new ground which is fully owned by us and raises our potential earning power. The £18m will go to LOFCs Holdco (Eagle Investments) who will write off the debt owed to it by LOFC and use the £18m to repay its shareholders who councidently are owed £18m. There is no obvious "return" on investment that I can see.Hoover Attack wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 1:20 pmThat's not how this works. The £18m won't go to Teague, Parry and the other little guys.HackneyO wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 11:44 amSo Travis is likely to be the largest shareholder, and if he’s not reducing his stake by much £18m gives the others a reasonable return.OyinbO wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 11:31 am
Teague has not sold up, he's just diminished. And Parry still has a significant stake - although it seems unlikely that either has been putting much in of late. There's also a few bits and pieces investors, including the new guys from this season: the dentist and the West Ham fan.

If the majority of the debt is owed to Travis at this point and he’s not looking to dilute his share too much then his debt will largely remain, so the balance of the purchase price may provide some return.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 3:03 pmThe £18m will go to LOFCs Holdco (Eagle Investments) who will write off the debt owed to it by LOFC and use the £18m to repay its shareholders who councidently are owed £18m. No idea how much is owed to KT but I think he ‘wrote off’ around £2 million last seasonCurrywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 4:05 pmI’d imagine the majority of the debt is owed to KTHackneyO wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 3:20 pmIf the majority of the debt is owed to Travis at this point and he’s not looking to dilute his share too much then his debt will largely remain, so the balance of the purchase price may provide some return.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 3:03 pm

The only one of them so far to actually crystallise a loss.Cheshunto wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 4:16 pmNo idea how much is owed to KT but I think he ‘wrote off’ around £2 million last seasonCurrywurst and Chips wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 4:05 pmI’d imagine the majority of the debt is owed to KT

Re: US-based consortium close to £18m takeover
From what I am reading into this, we would have a 'side club' if you like that would compete in this European league.
We wouldn't be changing anything but I reckon our European League team would be like an internal feeder club.
Of course, I could be VERY wrong but this is my interpretation of a 'franchise' in this context.

We are actually heading a bit south of Gosford, to Umina. It’s right on the beach, that’ll do me. It’s bloody lovely, Mrs Stow is from Sydney but we don’t want to live in a city again. It’ll be a huge change but we have to give it a go.Adz wrote: ↑Thu Mar 27, 2025 11:10 pmOne of the beachy spots, or around brisbane waters? Nice up there, a much slower pace of life than in a city. Once you get over the loss of friends and family and build up a new community you'll wish you'd done it 20 years ago.

I've got some mates in umina, (you learnt how to pronounce it yet?), the ocean beach hotel is nice, the link and pin up in Woy Woy is a decent pub, and the boathouse in Patonga is nice too.Stowaway wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 5:11 pmWe are actually heading a bit south of Gosford, to Umina. I hope someone tells them not to mess with Tijuana Taxi. That's a sure fire way to get fans "offside".
I am sure some fellow boarders remember when Bazza tried to change the run-out tune.

Nigel and Kent have been a safe pair of hands . After what Beelzebub did to us I’m nervous about this takeover.

If our new owners want a multi sports stadium I would imagine the new stadium would need to be built within a reasonable amount of time. I can’t see something like American football being played at Brisbane RdOyinbO wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 11:30 amIt'll be £18m on the understanding that permission for the new stadium is granted soon, which will push the value of the whole enterprise up considerably. And the stuff about the American Football team will be part of the proposition to get permission for the new stadium.Mistadobalina wrote: ↑Fri Mar 28, 2025 10:36 am Hoover already inflating the figure to make it sound like a cash grab.
£18m for a lower league club with no assets and clocking up 3m a year in losses feels crackers. Football really is a massive bubble waiting to burst.

If we have to have a franchise attached to the club, instead of American Football, please can we have this?

Re: US-based consortium close to £18m takeover
I think Travis sticking around will mean avoiding the more heinous gimmicky stuff, he'll be advising on what are the no nos from a fans perspective. Yank investors talk quite a lot about the commercial appeal of English football being in its 'authenticity' so from a purely self interested perspective, they have an incentive not to mess with the 'product' too much.

Great stuff, Dunners, but could we even scrape together a disco team of former Orient players like midfielder Ian Boogie and striker David Moonwalk?
