Just release them and see where we go from there. For starters, ain’t going to get a much needed Israeli election until then.

Under the terms of the ceasefire they were being released until Israel broke the ceasefire. Where can you go from there?

Israel doesn't care about the hostages, dead or alive.
They are happy for the military to kill civilians to prevent hostages being taken.

Hamas took bodies of dead Israelis they killed from Israel back into Gaza on Oct 7th. That is well documented.

But then Gaza was blown to pieces by the Israeli's. It may have been difficult to keep track of dead bodies when there were so many....

Except the bodies suddenly appear when it's time to exchange them for extending the ceasefire or 100s of Palestinian prisoners.

I really don't know. I was merely floating a hypothesis and I don't think you can know the answer for sure either.
