The way a lot of their - up til then usually brilliant - fans have either turned a blind eye to, or gone on the defensive about, their owners' antics leaves a sour taste in the mouth but they've waited a long old while and it's still good to see someone other than City, Utd, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool win something.

I used to like Newcastle in the Keegan era. Sadly, the club has now broken ground in the PL greed era by being owned by the Saudi Government - a bastion of sportswashing & human rights abuses. I hope this is the first & last trophy they win under the current owners.

My 3 year old grandson is currently being brainwashed into supporting Newcastle by his dad.

Oftentimes, when he sees a Magpie or just the black and white colours sitting together he spontaneously breaks out into a chorus of "Toon, toon; black and white army". I of course join in so would like to claim credit and joy for the cup win even though I secretly wanted the Mighty Reds to win.
