Re: Reality Hits Home
Reality will really hit home if we lose again on Saturday....three on the spin. And I'm not feeling too confident about it either.

Re: Reality Hits Home
If you we were offered 3 draws from Wrexham, Bolton and Birmingham before a ball was kicked a lot of people would have snapped the offering hand off.
The fact we got the same amount of points as that over the 3 games is acceptable, 3 incredibly tough away games on the bounce and I think we were unlucky not to get a point against Bolton and the ref f*cked us against Birmingham when at the time I think we looked good value albeit very early on.
Considering where we were a few months back and the amount of injuries and fatigued players we currently have a little hiccup is to be expected.
We'll be back on track soon

Yes, but I'm talking more in terms about the present run of two defeats (not the Wrexham win) and the impending game this Saturday against high flying Charlton.

Re: Reality Hits Home
But isn't that just skewering the facts to fit the narrative?
Not trying to be argumentative but without context 0 from a possible 6 sounds bad, but when 3 out of a possible 9 was considered acceptable and that is what we got it doesn't look as bad.
Glass half full v glass half empty I guess

Re: Reality Hits Home
If you’ve watched the games, you’d know there’s nothing to worry about.
It’s funny how some boarders post more frequently when they sense some trouble (which there isn’t).
A combination of a heavy fixture load which has hampered the squad, a soft ref and a shot ref have put paid to our hopes of an automatic promotion push. We’re obvs going to make the play offs still.

I'm not skewering anything to fit in with any such narrative? I'm simply making debate from the opening thread title. After our brilliant run we 'could' now be in for a bumpy ride. That's just the reality of football. Nothing to do with glasses half empty, either

Re: Reality Hits Home
I’m not sure your post implied we could be be in for a bumpy ride, you pretty much stated you had no confidence in our chances on Saturday.
Skewering to fit a narrative is done by anyone and everyone when trying to prove their point. You have used the total number of points gained in our last 2 games to validate your suggestion that “reality will hit home if we lose again” where as if you used a wider example of more games and points won defeat wouldn’t look as inevitable as you initially implied.
I am an eternal optimist so will always look at the positive and am very much glass half full. I might be wrong but you come across more glass half empty hence it’s inclusion in my previous post.
However it’s irrelevant you have your opinion as wrong as it may be and I have mine which is obviously the right one

Re: Reality Hits Home
You're literally making something out of nothing. And to fit your 'narrative' you now start putting words into mouths by stating that I had no confidence about our chances Saturday. Didn't put it like that did I.. And I'm not trying to 'prove any point' as you put it. It's simply ordinary football chat which you quite clearly do not seem to understand. And wrong again about myself being negative but I'm so pleased to hear that your such an 'eternal optimist'. Well done to you.

You are also taking way too much personally from my comments.

CCH doesn't rate Richie, literally invalidates any of his footballing opinions, just ignore.

Re: Reality Hits Home
I think they may have posted on the BBC 606 pages back in the day under the same name, I'm pretty sure Slade wasn't rated then either.Rich Tea Wellin wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 11:31 am CCH doesn't rate Richie, literally invalidates any of his footballing opinions, just ignore.
Thanks for the advice.

We are safe that is my priority. Personally do not think we are good enough for the play offs. Hope I am proved wrong tbh

Even Birmingham last night don’t move off the ball as well as we do.

Re: Reality Hits Home
Yes, but I see you conveniently left out 'if we lose' on Saturday. But yes, I'm not too confident. Doesn't mean to say I think we will definitely lose though....in your book it does. Don't worry Turk, I'm always very much chilled out. Like I said, you have to learn that there is ordinary general football chat. You have to also realise that being an 'eternal optimist' like yourself doesn't mean your team will always win.Turk wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 11:00 amYou literally typed that you weren’t feeling too confident!Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 8:29 am Reality will really hit home if we lose again on Saturday....three on the spin. Removed for my own sanity. It really is like having a toddler ask "why?" repeatedly.
However please do feel free to continue to quote the eternal optimist comment back to me. It makes me feel special

Re: Reality Hits Home
It's quite funny in a way. Long story short, had lunch in West end with two old friends today, both ardent Liverpool fans. I was saying how I think the title is already tied up in their favour. They of course were playing safe and one said, 'well who knows, the wheels could come off starting from tonight'...I had a chuckle and said to myself, 'blimey Charlie, I never took you for being negative and a glass half empty merchant'...

Re: Reality Hits Home
We lost at Bolton because we only had one CB on the pitch . Also lost last night because of a ridiculous sending off and some bad officiating. Anyway we should be stronger on Saturday with players coming back from injury so I'm very optimistic we'll get a win .Chief crazy horse wrote: ↑Wed Feb 26, 2025 8:29 am Reality will really hit home if we lose again on Saturday....three on the spin.
