Civil War- the latest Alex Garland film. The title refers to a near future america, however the plot revolves around a group of miserable photographers travelling to get a story. Kirsten Dunst, Pablo Escobar from Narcos and the little girl from Alien Romulus. Its a good cast but thrilling moments are few and far between. Civil War left me cold. 6/10

In ten years time this film will be looked on as a documentaryLong slender neck wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2025 9:48 am Civil War- the latest Alex Garland film. I liked it. It's not one to watch if you want lots of thrills though.

I never caught this at the cinema, so had yo wait for it to come on Prime. I recall it receiving some muted reviews at the time.
Personally, I think it definitely worth a watch. Visually stunning, amazing sound, strong performances, and an annoying teenager whose recklessness gets other people killed.
Don't expect many answers or explanation of what is going on at any point. But just settle in for a film that is different, and captures the chaos of a civil war through the perspective of a press crew. It gets a thumbs-up.

Masters of the Air - from the same gang who did Band of Brothers - and very much "B-o-B-but-in-B17-bombers". Lot of Brit actors doing American accents.
Like it (but not as good as B-o-B)

Get Away- a family take a holiday to a remote swedish island with a cult like population. There's a few edgy gags but despite the comedic chops of Nick Frost and Aisling Bea, this comedy left me cold. 5/10

Companion- A mans robotic female 'companion' goes haywire whilst on hols with a group of friends. It wasnt quite as fun as the trailer suggested it would be, so for that reason i have to say it left me as cold as the robotic lady's innards. Although I would hope for the bf's sake her innards are artificially heated. 6.5/10

Just finished watching The Day of the Jackal. Brilliantly written and Eddie Redmayne is superb in it. The big let down in it is the female lead. With all the actresses available atound they could have cast a more bebievable performer than the one they used for the part. She was awful.

I gave up on this one after about 4 episodes. Badly written and acted by rubbish actors.Chicken Dhansak wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:36 am Just finished watching The Day of the Jackal. My dislike may be traced back to having enjoyed the original so much and the inclusion of the Citreon DS in the filming.

You should have finished the series Max, you can't put out a blanket dismissal after just four episodes.Max B Gold wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 10:44 amI gave up on this one after about 4 episodes. Re: What are you Watching Today Part 2
Has anything taken more than the first 2 episodes to become good?
