That I have seen Orient win a trophy. And they could win another 3 weeks after. It's been a long wait.

I too missed our European Cup Winners Cup Win in 1972 versus Hadjuk Split as it was well past my bedtime

So next Saturday will make up for the disappointment of 1972

Only been League Champions a couple of times in our history (3 if you count a local league win back in Victorian times). Never won a significant knock out competition (only the London Challenge Cup has graced our trophy cabinet). I’m guessing a fair few of our oldies saw the Div 3 win in 1970 but for most of us this season will be a first (yeah, yeah, I know it’s not certain yet).

My grandfather passed on a few years ago. He took me to my first game when I was 9, 27 years ago. Will shed a few tears for those happy memories on Saturday if we can get the job done.

From wiki: In 1985 Wealdstone became the first team to win the "Non-League Double" of FA Trophy and Football Conference championship (although in the pre-Conference era both Macclesfield Town and Stafford Rangers had done the double of Northern Premier League championship and FA Trophy in 1970 and 1972 respectively). Since then Colchester United in 1992 and Wycombe Wanderers in 1993 have equalled Wealdstone's achievement.

Edit: just checked and both York & Cambridge Utd have also done a promo via playoffs & trophy double this decade. Two wins In quick succession at Wembley for both must have been satisfying.

Can’t count a play off trophy. Always thought it was unfair that the sides who finished 2nd & 3rd in the fourth tier got no gongs whereas the team coming up via the play offs got a cup. Orient finished 6th that season.

A certain Mr Josh Coulson was in that Cambridge side. If he does it with Orient surely he would be one of the most successful National league players of all time

Did Orient win that? I remember going when Marsh & Best played for Fulham and getting short shrift when asking for their autographs. They were booed heavily when they played their next game as most players from other teams did sign programmes.

As my uncle worked there, we had a penalty shoot out after everyone went home!

The 1976 Evening STANDARD 5 a side final

Stan Bowles recalled one year which seemed to sum up his life and career, when in 1976, QPR reached the final against second division Leyton Orient. Stan said ‘I had a good mate who was an Orient supporter – Jewish Dennis he was called … he’d backed them (Orient) to win the thing, £1,000 at 8-1. He said to me, ‘If I was to go hooky in the final he would see me right for a grand (£1,000). Well, I only stood to get £200 if we won the final, so was rather reluctant to turn him down.I scored a goal but we lost 5-1, Gerry Francis (QPR player & England captain at the time), said to me afterwards, ‘I don’t understand it Stan, you played brilliantly all night apart from the last game, I suppose you must have been tired’.

Winners in 1974. Expect this sort of thing on Saturday. Tankards and cup lids on heads. Classic.

We did not win a trophy for winning the play offs in 89. Indeed the players did even win medals and Kevin Hales actually lobbied the Football League to see if they could award them retrospectively but didn't get very far I believe...?

Forward to 2"23 and you can see Orient beating Chelsea on pens with Chris Turner scoring the vital spot kick.

Also footage of our defeat to Wimbledon in quarter finals 1-0 with Robbie Earle scoring the winner for the dons.
